Cars from the 1950’s, 1960’s & 1970’s looked so much better than the angular garbage from today
To my eye, the newer ones are even better looking.

Well, here's my current one (2006)
The new ones have nothing on the '69 BOSS 302 in the looks dept!

Save for a few examples, this thread is chock full of angular cars that more or less all look the same being posted by folks saying today’s cars all look the same.

My personal pick for the best looking car of all time is from the 60s and is about as far from angular as you can get.
There are plenty of other cars, both 60’s/70’s and current production, that I also like, though.

It’s from 1950 or pretty damn close P220 Smudge.
I’ve always wanted a chopped top Mercury from the late 40’s or early 50’s. Hell, I’d love to have one without a chopped top.
**potentially unpopular opinion **. I think a Tesla Model 3 with an aggressively chopped top would look fantastic. It’s not a great looking car simply because of its high as fuck roofline. That roofline ruins an otherwise decent ride.
It might even make the model 3 more aerodynamic if you did it right.

best looking car in the thread so far. tried to test drive one back in the 60's, no go on it, but they did let me drive a Shelby Mustang. Just enlisted in the Army, so could not afford either. Barry

Well, now that we are getting to the cars I'd like to drive...

My primary learn-to-drive car was a big ol' 1979 Mercury Grand Marquis. Parallel parking was part of the driver's exam, and a State Trooper did the ride-along. They had two trash barrels in front of the SP office -- those were for the parallel parking part of the exam. After the drive around town, "my" trooper said, "now put it between the barrels." It was the coolest thing for me, having nailed the parking job easy-breezy on the first attempt, hearing the trooper say (with a grin), "Nice job."
God bless America.

A few people have mentioned a somewhat obscure and VERY unique muscle car that I adore but they failed to post any pics of the unicorn. Time to fix that.
When I was in high school my girlfriends neighbor across the street had one of these. The AMC AMX. It sort of looks like the product of a fast back Mustang breeding with a Chevelle but smaller and oh so cooler.
The neighbor sold it and scooped up a 1969 Mustang fastback, which is a cool car for sure but the AMX is just on another level.

I cannot say a single truck that is manufactured right now is even close to being as sexy and voluptuous as this perfect machine. I 100% loved my Barcelona Red 4x4 TRD Sport Tacoma (it was the first vehicle I bought new) but even it didn’t come close to the aesthetic mastery of this…
This is truck perfection…my friends it does not get any better than this.

My dad had a 1969 Dodge Dart that was orange with black trim. He bought it when he returned from Vietnam.
I always liked the yellow and black Gremlin we had when I was little. I remember going to the drive in and sitting in the back.
My dad had it souped up and it moved quickly down the road.
He also had a 1950's Pontiac Sedan that sat in my grandparents garage for decades. I wish we would have restored it. I always liked it but I was way too young to understand or inquire what model it was. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mrapteam666, May 27, 2022 11:46 AM

The prettiest car that ever came out of Detroit - the 1967 Pontiac GTO. Stacked headlights, midnight blue paint, black vinyl top, true magnesium 5 spoke wheels, narrow redline tires, walnut steering wheel, 4-speed, Hurst shifter. Great gobs of "GO". You've got to go a long way to beat this car - and I'm not even a Pontiac fan.

My brother bought our 59s back in 1985 - a convertible and a 2-dr hardtop. $100 each.

I'm kind of a fan too. I've owned this since 1988 when I was a freshman in high school.

The hood tach is a reproduction unit. Mine didn't originally come with it.
