I made it so far, now I'll go for more |
I was switching hearing aids and told the phone to "forget this device" and now I want to go back but the phone wont hook up in Bluetooth. Is the "forget this device" permanent? What can I do to make the connection? I tried deleting the App and starting over, no luck. Bob I am no expert, but think I am sometimes.

“Forget this device” is NOT permanent, but you may have to clear the iPhone from the hearing aid’s memory. And I don’t know how to do that with a hearing aid. If you turn off Bluetooth on the phone and turn it back on, it will look for and display a list of available Bluetooth devices to pair with. If the hearing aids aren’t showing up, or won’t pair, the problem could be with hearing aids. When you told the phone “forget this device”, the phone deleted the hearing aids. But that doesn’t clear the phone from the hearing aids memory. And small devices like that may have a limit of the number of devices they can pair with, so for example, if they have been paired with 3 different devices and that’s the limit, you will have to clear at least one out of memory before you can pair the phone again. It might seem counterintuitive because it’s the same phone, but your phone “forgot” the hearing aids so will no longer connect. Sometimes the device (hearing aids in this case) will show up on the phones list, but won’t pair, because the hearing aids already think they’re paired (they remember the phone, even though the phone doesn’t remember them). In that case the solution is also to delete the phone from the hearing aids’ memory.

It's technically not permanent, but it does need to be re-paired as if was a new BT accessory. From Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204091 Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. To clarify my previous answer, “forget this device” is permanent in the sense that it’s not just disconnecting- it’s unpairing- so it no longer recognizes the device and can no longer connect. I answered that it is NOT permanent, because you can re-pair, which is how I understood the question. PAIRING is the process of the two devices learning each other and being able to connect. CONNECTING is simply connecting at that moment. Not a perfect analogy, but pairing is like making a key to fit a lock, and connecting is actually unlocking the lock with the key.

I managed to get my old aids to hook up. Looks like I have other issues with the new aids, so they are back in the box until I speak to the Aid people. Thanks guys, Bob I am no expert, but think I am sometimes.

I'm sure glad I saw this. Recently neither my pc or laptop have been able to communicate with a smart tv. This "re-pairing" thing may be a solution to work on.

The success of a solution usually depends upon your point of view |
Look at the manual for the new hearing aids and see if it gives directions for making the hearing aids "discoverable". Some BT devices require being put into a pairing mode in order for the phone to recognize them as a available device to pair with. The pairing mode will usually be active for a set amount of time so have your phone ready to search for available devices. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

I have Resound One and a Iphone 11. I've told my phone to forget quite a few times. I just repair them and good to go. _______________________________________________________ And no, junior not being able to hold still for 5 seconds is not a disability.
