I’ll try to get some pictures up later. But I have Mom and Dad’s old Airline Stereophonic console radio/record player. It works, but probably needs a little TLC
According to the paperwork (mom kept EVERYTHING) they bought it in December of 1961. I would say it is in better than good shape.
Anyway, a good forum where I could discuss it would be greatly appreciated.
A few quick phone pics. Please disregard the mess in the background. I’m in the process of moving.

Here ya go. Been a member for over 20 years. Might want to start with the Vintage Gear board.

If it was purchased in 1961, I'd pick through that list of capacitors and probably replace all the electrolytic capacitors, especially in the power supply section. Heck, probably all of them for that matter, but especially the power supply section.
Not even sure I'd plug it in before doing that, although I'm guessing you've already done that since you say it works.
As far as improving the sound, I'd look into replacing the speakers with modern drivers, that's where you'll get the most bang for your buck as far as actual sound quality goes. Pay attention to the speaker impedance values.
That unit probably has a tube amplifier, may want to look at the condition of the tubes as well.

it also probably has a 2-prong plug. A grounded 3-prong is also in order.

No, wait. The tone is in the cone. Unless they’re broken, let those vintage speakers live.

Yes.
