Do the premiums in the link below appear to be close to what one would expect to pay for a $250,000 term life insurance policy? https://www.valuepenguin.com/a...-life-insurance#nogo P226 9 mm P229 .357 SIG Glock 17 AR15 Spikes - Noveske - Daniel Defense Frankenbuild

Do No Harm, Do Know Harm |
I go with a plan through work. I have $336,000 for $22/month. I am 35. That is in addition to life insurance of 2x my salary, provided by my employer. If I die on the job, it’s a completely different can of worms. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones

As sort of a rough average, it seems ok. If you look at the categories ("preferred plus", "preferred", "select", "standard"), the costs vary quite a bit based on where you fall. Here's one that gives you an immediate estimate without requiring you to give up personal information - use a slightly different birthday if you'd like: https://www.tiaa.org/public/pr...r-tools/quote-legacy

Looks pretty decent to me. I buy SGLI through the military, a $400,000 policy for $29/month. Told my wife to go buy her a new Ferrari if she ends up collecting on it. _____________

Facts are stubborn things |
Most Life Insurance companies will have a Term calculator on their website and you can get a quote. This is my area of expertise, NEVER count on employer sponsored life insurance. Your family's protection should not be a the whim of your HR department. Buy an individual policy, use your employee benefits to supplement your individually owned policy. Do, Or do not. There is no try.

If I may borrow this thread, can someone recommend say the top 5 most reputable companies to buy life insurance through? I'd prefer something simple, straightforward, maybe $100k-$250k coverage, without a lot of hoops to jump through i.e. every sort of blood test/physical/history known to man etc.

No, that looks high. I just went through this with AIG, got a 20 year term plan for $1MM, am between 40 and 45, and am paying $57.12/ month.

If you go through your insurance company (i.e. State Farm), most do not require blood work for policies under $150K. Also, if you find a local insurance broker, they typically do not require blood work for policies less that 15 years and $250,000 or less. At least that is what I found here in the Carolinas.
