I had an 06 CRV with a manual transmission I bought new and just traded in a little over a year ago on a Mustang V6 for my son.
I drove the CRV initially, put a trailer hitch on it so I could pull a small utility trailer with a couple of dirt bikes. Eventually my kids used it to learn to drive a manual and when I bought an Acura in 2010 my kids pretty much took over the CRV. They used it through High School and College, put about 115K mostly trouble free miles on it before I traded it in last year.
My daughter got rear ended in it at a stop light, not her fault at all. Had it repaired and it drove fine. A couple years later she was in another accident in it when she turned in front of another car and took another pretty good hit. Again it was repaired and suffered no ill affects.
In short, my kids used and abused that car after it had been my daily driver for 4 years and it never skipped a beat. It was a really good vehicle for us. I imagine the 2005, being the same generation with very little changes from my '06, would also be a pretty reliable used vehicle.
It was part of the massive Takata airbag recall, so make sure the airbags have been or will be replaced. It also had a recall issued for the power windows.
The only problems I see regularly are with the A/C and cooling fans. If the condenser fan (the smaller of the two) blows its fuse, the A/C stops cooling as well. Both fans should run whenever the compressor is engaged. There are also sporadic compressor failures. Usually the clutch is what fails, but sometimes the compressor grenades and spreads debris and contaminated oil ("black death") through the entire system. The only things you can salvage are the metal lines if this happens.

I also had an '06 CR-V, automatic though. It was a great car! The only issues I had were brakes sticking oqccaiosnally and when I traded it in (in '14 with 214,000 miles on it) it had an AC issue. Never found out what it was, but either compressor or the integral starter switch on the compressor. In any case, at that age and mileage, I wanted to go new. Got a 2014 that I still drive. No issues at all with it.

Looking to get a Honda CR-V. 2005 with 79K, 5 spd manual. Going to see it in person probably tomorrow.

We used to have one. Bought it at around 50K miles and drove it for another 60 or 70k - Had a bad O2 sensor once, the A/C went out (compressor bearings), door actuators started acting funky (just before selling it). Engine never seemed to burn any oil. It's a solid car though, I liked a lot of things about it better than the new ones (we have a 2013 now). They resell very well - the loan officer at the bank knew someone looking for one when I applied for the loan for a new CRV - sold it the next day for what we were wanting.

We love our 2007 with 100K on it. The driver's side armrest showed some wear at about 85K, but we replaced it for less than $200 and the interior looks cherry again. The exterior has some roadway dings on the hood, from highway driving but nothing that touch up paint won't handle.

My 01 goes anywhere. And I chain it up of it won't. I've only change the AWD fluid after it started hollering when it would start to engage. It's NOT a big deal to change.

Saw it today, drives well and is in good shape. Only real rust was the gas tank protection frame.
I think we're going to settle at 8500 out the door, all fees included for it, with fixing the tank protection frame and a full tank of gas. Sound reasonable? It's down from 9500.
