Ummmm, they gotta go. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. They don't look like the friendly variety. Definitely interesting that they can do it on a moving object. Anything that isn't honey bees gets a heavy dousing of canned foam spray. The Enemy's gate is down.

In my 70+ years, I have never seen that, and I've flown a flag for probably 45 of them. Maybe they're just very patriotic wasps. ____________ Pace

I would assume a good whipping in the wind would detach the nest from the flag. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. That is a queen. They generally do not try to defend nests; that they leave to workers once they appear which from the looks of things will be quite some time. You could flick it off with your finger and she will most likely flee the scene (results may vary) and begin again elsewhere. A single wasp is nothing to be too concerned about regardless. I usually clap single wasps or yellowjackets if they don’t give the proper respect. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Also, how did you get such clear photos of it? I'd guess my flagpole is 20ft or so, I don't think I could snap a clear shot with the flags raised. The Enemy's gate is down.

My guess would be a 1,000mm telephoto lens. ![]() _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. It’s just the flag flying at the front door, with me right under it snapping pics using cell phone. Q

Gotcha, was thinking vertical flagpole. That makes more sense that they'd attach to a house-mounted setup. Otherwise, that would be quite the surprise when lowering the flags on an upright flagpole to come face-to-face with a nest ![]() The Enemy's gate is down.
