GustoferFairfax County releases violent illegal under ICE detainer who commits murder in under 24 hours
^^^^^^ I'm no legal scholar, but I find it hard to believe that the judge's only recourse in that case is to just let the animal go.

onegeekNeither am I, but if say the DA doesn’t file or even show up?!? Yeah I could see that OR being a legal thing. And maybe the DA didn’t do something on purpose, and OR was the intended result.

About 2 years ago, I moved out. Fairfax, and neighboring Loudoun counties are no longer recognizable, and I could not live there anymore.
It's sad.
Like you, I lived in NoVa for over 40 years and left in 2020 for coastal SC. I have run into a surprising number of people in SC who left Virginia as well!

Rick LeeI left Fairfax for AZ in 2008. I haven't been back in 10 yrs. and don't plan to ever go back. I lived a mile from the NRA HQ range too, moved there right when it opened. Don't miss that area at all.

btanchorsRick - I moved to AZ as well! Glendale, specifically, just north of Phoenix.

sigfreundThere are many laws on the books these days that mandate how arrestees must be treated, and mistakes and failures to follow them by the police and even prosecutors are hardly rare. Sometimes the results please us, sometimes they outrage us. If we’re going to get outraged, get outraged at the people who deserve it, not someone who obeys the statutes that the citizenry have approved by the election of the representatives who passed them and members of the executive branch that signed them into law.
And as one commentator remarked about a different matter, our ability—or desire—to understand something is not what makes reality real.

Judicial immunity needs to go away. When these judges begin being held accountable, this will stop.
Nobody with an ounce of brains would ever be a judge. Or, judges would all be from the bottom 10% of their respective law schools.
So you are claiming that the current system attracts better candidates? With track records like this? Really?
Seems like we are already getting that level of performance.
