I liked Brave browser. It seemed to be good for clean browsing and privacy. But it just doesn't work anymore. I can't use it on iOS - it browses okay but I can't use it to post anything (broken and don't know how to fix).

Now, it's not working on Windows. When I search for something, it keeps trying to confirm I'm not a robot. Other browsers are fine.

So, I'm going to stop using Brave. Not sure what's best for privacy and malware prevention / security. I'm using Safari on apple but what is recommended for Windows? Edge? Firefox? Other?

For Windows, Firefox is probably next best after Brave, as far as privacy is concerned. Edge is Microsoft's replacement for its old, horrible Internet Explorer. Chrome is pretty good and works well as a browser (it's become kind of the gold standard for browser compatibility, too). But Chrome is Google, so count on it reporting everything you do back to the Google mother ship. Even if it says it's not doing it.

Now, that having been said...

I had an issue with Brave just recently. It suddenly stopped showing embedded Youtube videos. It would just have big empty spaces where the videos were supposed to be. Firefox continued to work fine. It started happening after I did an OS (Linux) update, which IIRC included a Brave update. So I assumed there was something in the update that broke YT embedding. I researched it and found no mention of it anywhere. Then one day I did a reboot (for other reasons), and suddenly the YT videos started showing up again. So now I'm guessing that there was a reboot required after the update, that I just neglected to do. If you haven't rebooted in a while, you might try that.

Thanks. Updated and rebooted - didn't fix anything. I changed the search engine from Brave to google and seems to avoid captcha. So, perhaps a brave service specific problem. I'm gonna switch to firefox for now.... I just seem to have increasing problems with brave.

I use Brave on laptop and have "Shields" off for SF, and encounter no issues.

On the iPhone, it does not present the "dialog window" when I try to reply or start "New Discussion". No issues with captcha or anything else.

Site works fine in Safari.

Opera might be a close second to Brave for Windows.

Thanks. I keep relatively high Shields on. No issues with SF on windows laptop. But still have issues with posting (reply / new discussion) for SF on iOS - using safari on iOS now.

The captcha issue seems to be related with the brave search engine. when switching to duck or goggle, captcha seems avoided. May continue to poke on this but may just switch browsers. I'll check out Opera (don't know anything about it). Otherwise maybe firefox. No chrome.

Thanks! Will study. Scanning - Opera looks pretty good and similar to Brave.
