It appears the Cathedral is set to open on 7 December 2024.

We are hoping to go to Europe next year (to retrace my FIL’s WW2 campaign) and am looking forward to visiting this.

We were there in 2019 and about two weeks after our return is when the fire started. My parents also met and married during WWII in Paris. I have several photos that my mother took while there in 1944/45 and in 2013 one of the main goals while in Paris was to recreate those same photos.

The place looks amazing. Seems really quick how fast it was restored.

I was in the hospital sick for ten days when it burned. Watched all the news stories on the hospital tv.

Will never forget one of the cute little nurses coming in to check on me watching it while it was burning. She pulled out her phone and started showing me pictures from a few years before while she was on her honeymoon. Some pictures were from her hotel balcony which was very close to where the news cameras were filming the destruction live.

I wonder if she will go back for a second honeymoon.

Next year we’re planning to fulfill a longstanding wish, a visit to Normandy. We’ll fly into Paris. It’s wonderful that the Cathedral will be, once again, open at the time of our visit.

I've been there before the fire, and to a lot of other cathedrals in Europe growing up. What really struck me about these pictures is how bright and clean it is after the reconstruction. Most European cathedrals are dark and soot-stained...somber and almost menacing in appearance from centuries of coal smoke exposure and other air pollution.

Seeing how light and clean the rebuilt Notre Dame is made me realize what these places probably looked like when they were newly built, and how much more bright and inviting they must have been. I'd never considered that before.

I agree completely.
I also think that Central European cities like Prague must look remarkably cleaner and brighter after the fall of the long night of Communism.
