The Golf R Wagon would be a hoot
The Volvo V70R & V60 Polestar look good too

The AMG Estates are top dog for me. At the F1 race at COTA, you can hear the C63 medical car over the V6T F1 cars.

Going way up in price, the Panamera Sport Turismo easily doubles the price of an E63S.

One of the draftsmen who I worked with in my former life had a mid 90's Chevy Caprice wagon that he turned into an Impala SS wagon. It was actually kind of cool. Also kind of a sleeper if you didn't notice the supercharger whine...

Rumor is that North Carolina asphalt is tough on tires - something about the type of rock they use in the asphalt.
I love the Golf Sportwagon, its just a bit small for me. However, if Volkswagen would import the Sportwagon R to the US (300hp+ and AWD), I think one of those would be hard to say no to.
Size wise, they are about the same.

I think you misunderstood my point. The Sportwagon and the Sportwagon Type R are essentially the same vehicle. My point was that they are smaller than the MB E350 I noted in my initial post. However, if the Type R were available for sale in the US, I might overlook the size issue.

While I hate the idea of the CVT the subaru one does work well. They need to bump it up to 300hp if they could could do that and bring back the manual or put a DSG in it they would have a total winner.

As it is 2020 fits into when I am planning on buying a new car, I am torn at the moment between upsizing to a full size PU or slightly downsizing to a wagon.....I miss having a car that I can drive in a spirited manner

Ditto. I owned a RS6 (not Avant), but rue the day I had a brain fart and sold it. Audi USA is making more noise than normal about bringing this bad boy wagon to the States

An earlier RS6 Avant sported the 5.0 liter V10 lifted from the R8 >>
