Here's another classic case of "it works great, but it needs just a little help."

The dishwasher: it's about 15 years old, works well, fits the space, does the things it should. But the lower rack is losing some of its rubber (?) coating, exposing metal. That metal, of course, rusts. "Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!"

A quickie search says a new rack is available... for five hundred bucks! There's nothing fancy about this rack, it's coated wire, with a bunch of "stickie uppies," one might say. The upper rack I can see being a little expensive (but not $500), as it's got the spray arm attached. The lower is just a simple dish rack. So. At that price, replacing it leads to "might as well replace the dishwasher." But that's excessive for the tiny original problem.

I joked about spraying it down with Plasti-Dip. Yeah, I got the stinkeye over that one. But seriously: can racks like this be re-dipped? Are there companies that do this? Can the average homeowner do a DIY? What do you know, SF?

God bless America.

Plasticoat?

Oh wait - you already noted that as an option.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission. Wink

Holy smokes! ReRACK is a Plasti-Dip product! Big Grin

ETA: And it's in stock at the Ace store just two miles away.

Thank you, bald1!

(A whopping three minutes between "question asked" and "solution provided." This place is awesome.)
