Smoked Prime Rib in Charlotte North Carolina
A few years ago, I went to the NRA Convention in Charlotte North Carolina. While I was there, I went to a barbecue restaurant that had Smoked Prime Rib. It was delicious. It was so good, I went two nights in a row. I am going to be in Charlotte in a few weeks. I have been trying to remember or figure out the name of that restaurant. I am hoping someone here can help me out. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Midwoods or sauceman?

Was it downtown?

Mike, I don't remember where it was. I stayed a little outside of town and remember having to drive on some freeways to get there. I looked at the menu from both places you listed and did not see it.

I think it was place called Jim'n Nick's. It looks like it might have been a weekend special.

Yeah I just looked online and none of their menus have smoked prime rib. Coulda been a place that went under during the pandemic

I’m not aware of such. And I’d like to think I would be.

I’m a big fan of Jim n Nicks, probably 3-4 times a month. Midwood Smokehouse monthly. Macs Speedshop 3+ times a month…I lubs the BBQ Big Grin

It’s not smoked, but Beef and Bottle has a fantastic prime rib if that’s what you want. Arguably one of the best, anywhere.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

Midwood Smokehouse is definitely my favorite but to be honest, my BBQ is better and significantly cheaper. The rest I could take or leave in Charlotte. I wish we had a proper Lexington or Eastern style BBQ in town. Smoked prime rib does sound like a fund undertaking though.

Anyone here remember Slug's in Charlotte? When I was growing up, going to Slug's for prime rib was always a treat.

Can't help you with the location but talking about smoked Prime Rib is making me hungry. Eek
I smoked one on the BGE not too long ago and it was spectacular.
Good Luck on your quest. Cool

I was one of the original employee's of J.W. "Slug" Claiborne at "Slug's Rib". He got the nickname playing football at old Central HS located in downtown Charlotte. That restaurant opened 52 years ago.

Small world! It would have been late 70s and maybe early 80s when we went.
