4.2 quake just hit me.
Just went through another earthquake here in the Bay Area.

I’ve been through 100’s in my lifetime.

I guessed it was a 3-4 and it turned out to be 4.2 centered 8 miles from me.

Nice little rocker…

.

I'm guessing you are in the San Ramon/San Francisco area...

If you're not aware, USGS website posts lots of info about quakes that occur across the planet. As of this post, there have been 3 quakes in this area so far today...

Earthquakes are one of California's seasons. Big Grin

I lived 15 miles from Cajon Pass, where the main San Andreas Fault runs through, for 20 years. There were several good shakers (ex. the 1992 Landers and the 2000 Hector Mine) during that time, but in low-populated areas.

Felt nothing either. If you're talking about the San Ramon, it is listed as only 3.0?

I felt it. It was like a small wobble, and then one shake.

In mid 90s, I had a monthly business meeting in the upper floors of the Oregon Office Bldg in PDX. I was ALWAYS uncomfortable there due to various bldg shaking.

Some of it was 'just normal shakes' but now & then a little 3.5++ now & then was enough for me to abandon that voluntary small exposure period.

I had lived thru bigger Cali style shakes & simply didn't need to complicate my schedule.

Anything below a four is tiny. I think my fat dogs register a four when they walk across the kitchen.

Stat safe, PR64.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Hasn't the San Ramon-area had a few shakers centered right under it in the last decade?

We have faults all around us.

Hayward fault.

San Ramon fault.

San Andreas fault.

And many more…

Any resident of the SF Bay Area is well aware of the faults around the area, San Ramon being a convergence zone has experienced periodic series of low-level earthquake swarms. With the Calaveras Fault, Diablo Fault and the uplift of MtDiablo itself, the San Ramon Valley is uniquely prone to these swarms as the link shows.
