I can only assume he's trolling the snowflakes here. Not a chance any Republican votes for Pelosi to be speaker. A Pelosi speakership though I don't think is actually a benefit to the Democrats. Trump obviously knows this.

Then again, now Democrats will actually be "taking the President's advice" if they do vote for her. Haha, brilliant.

He's stirring the pot. He knows a good number of Dems ran on a promise not to vote for her. If they're fighting with themselves, they can't fight with him.

Two of the biggest Democrat sleezeballs-- and that's saying something-- LOST: O'Rourke and Gillum. Lost despite tens of millions of dollars pouring in, especially from Hollywood.

It will be a challenging two years for Trump, but he is up for challenges. I think the single biggest one will be building the wall, which he must do by whatever means necessary, and that probably will mean declaring the wall a national security matter and using money from the military budget. If that is what he needs to do, he should do it. It is crucial for his re-election-- essential.

But, I have to say that I am pretty much sickened by the fact that we didn't gain multiple seats in both houses of Congress. I simply cannot fathom how half of this country thinks...or, more accurately, doesn't think.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, in this country is better off than they were two years ago. There is no denying that fact. Our country is safer, more prosperous, and more respected than it has been in nearly 30 years. Yet, half of the people here want to take all of that away.

It simply boggles the mind.

It's sickening to me as well, but on the bright side I will say this:

With the increased majority in the Senate President Trump can continue to appoint judges, goodbye RBG! Think of all the good that will be done with many years of a conservative majority in the Supreme Court and lower federal courts.

He can also replace several cabinet members, goodbye Sessions! The Dems in the House can go full retard demanding investigations all they want. With proper leadership in the Justice department nothing will come of it and the Trump train will keep on winning well through 2020.

Yep. Trump judges currently account for more than1/6th of the Federal Appellate bench, and that will continue to grow unchecked. I'm not convinced we will see another SCOTUS vacancy within the next 2 years, but should it happen, with potentially 54 or 55 senate seats, we're unlikely to be held hostage by a couple of squishy Republicans again. Plus, another baseless smear job like the Kavanaugh battle will further highlight how extreme the Dems have become. With the exception of Manchin, who voted for Kavanaugh, Red State Dems went 0-9 this cycle because of the Kavanaugh effect.

Bring on the investigations and impeachments. I doubt the Democrats are smart enough to resist the urge to play to their base and pursue endless impeachments and investigations. my sense is it will only further alienate moderates and independents in 2020.

I believe the loss of the House in 2016 is the price we pay for a potential landslide in 2020, and will be worth every penny.

A little OT, but this was a very effective election for the OKeefe Project Veritas videos.

He did a good job in getting the truth out on several key DEMs.

I think they're actually in a tough spot. If they don't investigate and try to impeach, the far left who turned out for them this cycle will be mad.

If they do investigate and try to impeach, they'll alienate moderates who want to see them govern.

Republicans should focus on 2 things imo.

1) fix our broken immigration system. Make a system that is reasonable and affordable for people who want to join our country and be productive here.

Do this with a part of the bill that funds the wall. If Dem's resist the wall, make sure the immigrants know who said no to a good plan.

Trump did this once, now he needs to do it again and make it louder.

2) Work on saving healthcare. We really need people to understand that the entitlements are going to bankrupt our country.

It's not an easy message to get out there, but the moderates really need to see that we can't afford this.

Don't pound "socialism" like it's a bad word. We really need to educate people on why it won't work. We need Republicans to be sincere in this education. We can't just rant and shout "socialism!!!!!"

we need our leaders to educate the uneducated on this topic. I don't know how we do it, but we must.

If we take those to things away from the Dems over the next two years, 2020 should be a breeze. Anything other than those two issues should be ignored. We should focus all of our energy and money on those two only.

Can someone help me understand the numbers in the House?

Fox news says 220 Dems in the House, and 193 Republicans. I understand only 218 are needed to control the House, but:

1) There are 436 total seats. 220 + 193 equals only 413, so 23 seats are unaccounted for? What party holds the missing 23 seats?

2) If Dems lose only 3 seats, they would be in the minority...In a group of 436 people, that's a razor thin margin. Seems to me they could be very vulnerable in the next election...

There are 435 seats in the House.

22 of those seats haven't been called yet. (according to Fox)

But the DEMs already have 220, so they will control the House.

House seats not called yet:

Ariz 1
CA 49
Wash 8
CA 25
CA 48
GA 6
NY 22
Utah 4
CA 10

CA 45
Maine 2
Minn 1
NC 9

Many races haven't been called yet. We don't know which way they'll definitely go yet.

There were 22 independents on the ballot for Tennessee governor. Plus the 2 rep/dem candidates. I’ve been voting a long time and I can’t remember that many ever for any positions.

Are there any other states that had that many? Conspiracy theory would say someone was trying to water down the votes with all those people. on the other hand I’m thinking about running myself next election...

So, it wasn't a "Blue Wave", and Repubs won some of the high-profile races; but it was a "Blue Shift". We are witnessing the long slow decay of America into socialism. I advocate resisting as much as possible, but I am also trying to calmly adjust my mentality to the fact that this is the way reality is. Civilizations rise and fall, largely due to ignorance and all the other human foibles that are simply the reality of the human condition. Love your family and live your life in accordance with your own values. Give unto Schumer what is Schumer's....and don't look back at Sodom.

Crom I think the gloom and doom is seriously misplaced. The Dems still can’t do anything but obstruction and the Senate still confirms court appointments. A whacked out Dem Socialist two years will drive Trump right back to the White House unless they somehow see the light.

I just looked at the map provided on the Fox News web site--there must be something in the water of the Pacific Ocean because there is only one House district that touches it that is not Blue (and it is yet undecided but trending Republican). The entire coastline is Democrat save for that one district in southern Washington. (Well--Alaska is Red, but it's not connected.)

Got it. I didn't realize there were so many seats that had not been called yet. So the dems may increase their margin of seats beyond the 220.
