Link You might think that a 96-foot-long turbine semi-truck would be hard to lose, but that’s the case with Big Red. The ’60s were an interesting time in the automotive world, as cars and trucks began to come into their own and automakers were looking to harness the future. Turbine power was also a big thing back then, and most people are well aware of Chrysler’s famous Turbine Car. Ford and GM were each busy building their own turbine semi-truck at the time, though both fizzled out before they could gain much traction. For some time now, no one really knew what happened to those turbine semi-truck concepts. It’s been assumed that GM destroyed theirs, which was a common practice at the automaker during this time period. Ford’s giant truck, appropriately dubbed “Big Red,” survived that fate. However, no one really knew where it went, or who’s owned it since. But after doing some extensive research, it appears that The Drive might have finally tracked it down.
