And both of those priced together can ride comfortably under the low end of his budget (street price through well known web sources for the Oris).

Many of the big name watches with Swiss movements in your price range use movements from ETA/Valjeux. I believe the names you mentioned do. Save yourself 800-1500.00 and check out the website of German manuf STEINHART. They use ETA/Valjeux movements. Check out the prices, remember to subtract the large european tax hit. Convert euros to dollars using the current exchange rate (on net). Thecan advise shipping cost. I ordered direct from the factory.

I bought the Nav B chrono II w/the 7750 ETA movement. I have a Hamilton with the same movement.

If you don’t want a chrono, most of the rest of their watches are standard style.

Unless you buy high dollar watch like a Rolex that makes their own movements, then most manufs in your price range use the eta/v movements, although some modify them in house.

Unless you are determined to pay an extra 1000 plus for a name, I suggest a Steinhart watch containing the same engine or works as the brands you mentioned.

That doesn’t take anything away from a great brand name watch. My Rolex is closing in on almost 40 years of service.

Try our very own forum member David Truong.
I have never bought anything from him but several members have. He comes highly recommended.
I would do a lot of looking on the internet to get some idea of style and price. It all depends what style (dive, sport or dress)you want.
I like Chrono24 for research but have never purchased through them.
There is a local guy here in central Florida who is a second hand watch seller. I have purchased from him in the past.
You might want to look in your area to see if you have any second hand watch sellers near where you live.
You can find some nice used Breitlings Superoceans or Colts,Tudors Black Bay ,Tag Heuer Carrera and older Omegas Seamasters in that price range or a little more.
Good luck and let us know what you get.

The steinharts are a good watch for the $. I got bored with the two that I had. Both mine were 2824 movements and kept within COSC standards, but just never really spoke to me. Partially due to weak lume. For the $ i really felt like the squale was more watch. It had better lume then my steiny and just felt like a tank. Probably due to the GMT movement.

You may want to consider the type of watch as well. Sport, dress, military etc
I have Hamilton Field watch and a Rolex dress watch. The Hamilton wears very well with a leather strap. Some watches require servicing which can get pricey. If you looking at a used Omega get it from a reputable dealer.

This forum does well on watches. https://www.rolexforums.com/index.php
There is a section on Omega

Something a little different, how about a Sinn. The watch pictured below is a model 856.

There is only one authorized dealer in the US, Watchbuys in Charlotte.

I have had a 656 (no longer available) for 10 years and really like the style.
