So, it’s time to dump WalMart stock. Eek

I took a $7/hour pay cut to walk away if that tells you anything. Today was just filling out tax forms, signing non disclosure agreements and listening to someone read employee manual text. That said, it sounds low key and like they value their people. I’ve talked to lots of people that used to work at the new place and not a single one said they left because they hated it. It was always more money, shorter drive, needed a different schedule, etc. They’re hiring lots of people right now because lots of people are retiring after 20-40 years. They asked in the interview about the money because they know they don’t pay as much as Walmart. I simply told them that money is t everything.

On a personal note, I know I’ve been argumentative with some people here over the last year or two and you’re one of them jimmy. I didn’t realize just how miserable that damn job was making me and I was lashing out in every direction. This is me apologizing for being angry about things and taking it out on others. Already apologized to the wife on multiple occasions. Thanks to all of you that give digital support to everyone posting their lives and issues here. Thanks to Para for not swinging the hammer of the gods to put some of us in our places when he would’ve been justified in doing so.

And lord please let this be a positive new direction!

Leemur, I added up a prayer for you last night and will do so often. I wish you well and hope that things go well in your future. A good job makes life so much better all round, especially the people close to you that care and want a better future for you.

I've been a 911 dispatcher for 12 years, and shift supervisor for the past 5 years. I got tired of the stress and constant BS, and stepped down from my position and went to night shift a while back.
The move cost me a little money, but the peace of mind is SO worth it. May be the best move I ever made.

Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.

Well shit. Got a call from another place this morning that’s closer to home and pays far more. I have several friends that work there and they like it. I’m sending in a resumé tonight and have an interview Monday morning. I knew this would happen. Guess it’s a good problem to have but if I take a job at this new place I’ll feel like a total prick bailing out on the one I’m at now.

You can tell Walmart is really trying to cut costs as they force everyone into the numerous new self-checkouts and NEVER have more than 2-3 people working at the checkouts even during prime time hours, resulting in long lines. Mad

That's old-fashioned thinking and you have to get past it. You're just a number to the new place and they'd drop you in a heartbeat if they wanted to, so don't feel any pangs of guilt about doing the same to them. There's no such thing as loyalty anymore.

Unfortunately, I totally agree with this. It's a shame corporate America has come to this, but the new company you work for can/might dump you during the probationary period just as fast as you might be dumping them.

Does your new company have a probationary period? Think of your (potentially) leaving as part of their probationary period. Cuts both ways, no?

Normally I’d agree but this is a family focused company with a great reputation for how they treat their employees. They’d probably be very understanding of my position but it won’t stop me from feeling like a total shit.

Phone interview on Monday morning. It’s just like dating, when you’re single no one wants you but as soon as you start dating, every chick is flirting with you.

So...what happened?

Did you bail on the new place to go to the even newer place?
