NOT a Turkey Thanksgiving 2024
A little play off IndianMike's Turkey thread for us being untraditional. I didn't want to confuse his

Majority of our house doesn't like turkey so I bought a 15# prime ribeye primal. I'll cut in half, tie for the roast, then portion the other into steaks. Haven't decided if I'll smoke on the BGE or slow roast in the oven

I will miss the open face leftover sandwiches personally

what's on your untraditional thanksgiving menu?

letting someone/someplace else cook?

Will be having a rib roast as I didn't want turkey.
And I won't be cooking either.

We are having some steaks at work, if everything works out. I like turkey but prefer it on a sandwich of some sort.

Prime rib. No one in the house likes turkey or ham.

Turkey can never get better than ok. But that is what we are having, smoked I believe. Will find out tomorrow

Since my wife and I are alone this year, no point in deep frying, a turkey, although we love it.

We are going to have Thanksgiving steak (ribeye)!

I’ve heard you have to feed pneumonia.

Prime rib. Hubby not a fan of turkey, I’m ok with that. Just us two, so no need to cook a lot of stuff.

Hosting my two sons who much prefer a carving ham, my twice baked potatoes, and a Caesar salad.

Wherever you are - Enjoy!

Cheers~

I'll be doing my family favorite prime brisket which has been brining in the refrigerator since yesterday afternoon. I'll light my Weber about 9pm tonight for a 2pm dinner bell. I will also be doing a prime rib after I pull the brisket.

There is no Turkey and no ham this year.

We don't really care much for turkey and always get a Costco ham. Save the bone for a fantastic pot of red beans with cornbread on into winter.

We will always do turkey for Thanksgiving. But we also do one for Christmas and I am pressing to do the Feast of Seven Fishes this year. Or perhaps Prime Rib. Just not another bird.

For the last several years I have made ribeye steaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I buy a Prime grade rib roast and cut it into thick steaks.
I’m trying the reverse sear on the pellet grill.

No turkey? Does not compute!

Did y’all grow up eating nasty dried out turkey?

The thing I really don’t get coming from a huge family is the concept of going out to a restaurant to eat Thanksgiving dinner, never did that once in my entire life.

Turkey would be untraditional for me.

Hot dogs are my traditional thanksgiving meal. Started maybe 20-25 years ago while hunting, where I am more thanksgivings than not I think. This year it will be hotdogs because I bought them and didn't eat them last week while hunting. lol

Reverse sear rib eyes and a turkey breast in oven with cornbread dressing and giblet gravy. Made a big pot of white chili with the turkey legs, thighs and wings.

New this year. Not turkeyless but not a trad turkey either. Smoked turkey thighs, but all the fixins will be the same as with a whole bird.
