That is a very impressive gun set.

Back when we had our printing business, we printed a pretty large (800+ Page) book with a lot of pictures for a lady who was a direct decedent of the Earp family. I didn't read it thoroughly, but glancing through it and talking to the women, it was evident there was a lot more to the man than legend portrays. He was a bad ass.

Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves.

So, I will have the 2 gun set, Frontier Gunleather is remaking the official holster from the TV series, and I am working out the measurements for the hat from the series.
Then Greeley Hat will make the hat for me.
I am thinking 20X beaver.

The hat, the holster and the guns will make a nice heirloom for one of my family members.

One of my solar customers is an Earp.

When the Delivery driver went out to deliver the modules and gear, he met the owner and asked him if he was related to those Earps.

Turns out he is a descendant of Morgan Earp!

“I used to be totally into Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and other shredders, and I tried to emulate what they did and really grow as a guitarist,” Mr. Hanneman said in “Louder Than Hell.” “Then I said, ‘I don’t think I’m that talented, but more important, I don’t care.’ ”

In my haste to acquire these pistols, I plain forgot about caliber. It wasn't that important.

They're 45 Long Colt.

The guns have arrived in Fort Morgan at r2mach1's place of business.

Frontier Gunleather, who graciously agreed to remake the holster that could be had for extra dollars with the guns, finished my holster and it will arrive on Tuesday.

Impressive!

I must represent, however, that the Earps framed the Clantons Wink

I am a descendant of the Clantons from the Cowboy gang and the gunfight at the OK Corral. I have my mother's side of the family history somewhere around here, all the way back to the original McClanton coming to America in the 1600s.

Old Man Clanton (his son being Ike Clanton) is something like my Great, Great, Great, Great Uncle. My mother's maiden name is Clanton.

That said...the Earps' story sure does make a better movie! lol

Edit...I found it, I'll post it when I get a chance to get photobucket to cooperate.

In the TV series with Hugh O'Brian, old man Clanton is presented very favorably.
His sons were not.

I picked up the tribute gun set today from r2mach1.
Thanks Ryan.

The holster came from Frontier Gunleather with a certificate signed by John Bianchi, since O'Brian has passed away.
The hat specifications were given to Greeley Hat yesterday, so it's in the mill.

Here are the tribute guns.
There are no marks from cycling, which is nice.

Thanks again for handling this for me.
If I left any paperwork, let me know.

It's interesting that the grips are natural wood finish with no overcoat like lacquer or anything.

Included in the box were some black polymer grips of some type or another, not that I would put them on.

A fine pair of revolvers and heirloom. A thought, maybe put a dvd set of the series away with the guns?

Hugh O'Brien was one of my heroes growing up, looked forward to the show every week.

I was reading up on these Colt SAA Hugh O'Brian tribute guns and come to find out they are made with the pre-1896 type black powder frames.

Does anyone know the difference?
