Have a Craftsman 3/4 hp with battery, works fine I'm not looking to buy a whole new system, but to add the wifi capabilities to the door, In fact I have two doors, the other has an older system from Overhead door, but it's generally not used for much.

Looking around there is the MyQ system for $79 on Amazon, comes with hub, and should be compatible, and the Nexx Garage system for $99.

The info on MyQ says you have a monthly subscription to connect to Google etc for a buck a month, Nexx works with Alexa which we do have and google with no fee and then there are others like GarageMate (blootoof operated) and Gogogate (lots more features).

Just curious if anyone has used them, how well it works, recommendations, one advantage would be that I could open the door from the motorcycle without having to fumble for a remote and knowing the door was left open, I've had a few times where I know we shut the door but it must have kicked back up, found it open late at night..

My LiftMaster door is wi-fi connected and I use the MyQ app to monitor and control. The MyQ was part of the purchase of the door opener. I do not have a subscription for it and do not pay anything on a recurring basis. So, unfamiliar with MyQ being a subscription product.

That said, I can get email alerts from the door when it is opened or closed, I can program a set amount of time for the door to remain open before it will close on its own (handy when you drive off and leave it open) Less handy when you are out in the yard working but I can override that setting and "Hold" the door open under those circumstances. I can also open the app on the phone and see whether the door is open or closed and can close it or open it from the phone app. Phone app does not have all the menu items that the door opener controller on the wall in the garage has so it's limited in that regard. But it has the basics to keep you informed, let you operate the door and have it close on its own when necessary.

Alert feature came in handy a month or so ago. We were out of town and our daughter came home unannounced. I got an email shortly after she opened the garage door and I was able to call the neighbor across the street to see who was entering the house. Piece of mind!

I have the MyQ setup for my garage doors and the gate on my driveway. But, both of those are Chamberlain products. It works great and there is no subscription needed, at least for mine.

There is a free app for the phone and you can even set it up to message you when the door is opened or closed, or best - when it is left open over "x" minutes. plus you can open and close from anywhere you have cell service and tell the status of any device.

I plug the gateway into the router and it has had no problem, even given that my driveway gates are about 200 feet away.

I have no idea if it works with non-Chamberlain products though...

It's funny you posted this, as I just got MyQ from Chamberlain last week and installed it last Saturday.

Here are pics of it installed. It looks nice and is easy to install but I had a little problem getting it to recognize my wifi. Once it recognized that, I've had 0 problems.

After having it for one week I would say I love it. I have wanted one for several years and finally broke down and bought it after I saw the price dropped down to $80 + tax.

I have no paid for anything other than the hardware, no subscription fees, ect, and it works great with my Genie opener.

Here is what the app looks like. You can open the app and see if the door is open or closed. Just press the garage and the door opens or closes.

I worked in a different division, but for Clopay, the largest residential garage door mfg in the world. We got huge employee discounts. Just before I retired I bought two new insulated doors and two Lift Master direct drive openers and they threw in an outside keypad and a Lift-master branded internet Gateway.

However... It being a low priority I haven't even installed them yet.
So I realize this is of NO help to you at all, but...

...having had to turn around and return home on more then one occasion to make sure I shut the garage doors is something I look forward to not having to do ever again... eventually... Big Grin

First world problems, right?

I have MyQ built into my opener.
It is fantastic. Never had connection issues or delayed alerts.
Let’s me know if the door is up for longer than 30 minutes.
No monthly fee that I know of. Need to install a camera in the garage for a little added view if I am gone to see why the door is opened.

I can only attest to the built-in MyQ functionality for my Liftmaster 8500W jackshaft garage door opener. I replaced my existing ceiling mounted Liftmaster contractor unit a couple years ago that didn't have that feature.

I like the MyQ and being able to monitor it on my phone. I can recall three occasions in the last two years where I'd come home from work and the garage door was wide open. I live in a very safe and small neighborhood and know everyone so I didn't worry about any theft, but just knowing how vulnerable my house was made me uneasy. With the new opener, I don't worry about that anymore.

The only bug that I could find in the MyQ app is the alerts. You can set it to alert when the door opens. If the door is stopped midway before the door fully opens, it doesn't count that as an "open" event and will not alert you. Oh, and you don't have the option of alerting you when the door closes.
