I have a couple of old pieces that I would like to try and repair, but I have no idea how to go about it.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m a rank amateur by professional standards, but I do have a little experience in hand-blown glass.

What kind of damage do you suspect could be repaired with glassblowing skills? To join pieces like I suspect you’re thinking, I’m not sure you need a glass blower. A good lampwork artist might be better able to help you.

I have two pieces of vintage green glassware. 1. is a tray and the lip of the tray has been chipped ; 2. I have a little green six shot glass holder and the base has a reasonably sized chip. For the second one I do have the piece of glass that goes in place.
I tried contacting the local Glassblower in the area and they said they didn’t want to work with anything they didn’t create as they couldn’t account for changes in temperature, etc..

Maybe be a crazy idea, but a dab of super glue might work for the second chip. I'm sure you want it fixed perfectly, but this repair might be good enough.

ETA And now that I think about it, would you want to experiment with some green dye into some super glue for the first issue?

Well, I tried the glass glue. It held for a week. I picked it up and moved it and it came apart again, so, I’m trying to find a better solution..

Not knowing your location, I offer this. In Pittsburgh we have the Pittsburgh Glass Center. It offers classes in glass blowing, kiln work and flame work. That's the kind of place that might be able to help and there may be schools or studios near you that offer some or all the above. In my limited knowledge of glass work it would likely be a combination of flame work (repair) and kiln work (to minimize temperature differential, the anathema of glass).

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?
