Page late and a dollar short |
I maybe buy once or twice a year there. Anyhow, I won an item at auction Monday afternoon, immediately paid for it via PayPal. Winning and payment was immediately acknowledged by eBay. No communication from seller. Tuesday I messaged the seller verifying the item would be sent with insurance via USPS and was told yes and I’d be updated with a tracking number once it shipped. Now Thursday night. Per eBay payment has been received, no shipment information has been sent by either eBay or seller, I’m assuming that shipment has not been made yet. I messaged the seller this evening if they have shipped the item as eBay states item will be shipped within three days and have not received a response as of this time. Seller has 100% rating, one of the reasons I entered this auction though one person recently said they didn’t receive a tracking number but the item arrived. eBay states that if I haven’t received by October 1st I can file a report with them. I have the option to cancel this order, I’m thinking that if I don’t receive an answer by Saturday morning I’m going to cancel. Am I being unreasonable? FWIW this is a older electronic watch just under 400 dollars. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. Don’t panic. If he had good feedback you’re good. Plus PayPal has your back if you don’t receive it. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

if the seller has 100% rating and a meaningful number of transactions, you are being paranoid. In any case your risk is essentially zero so why worry enough to post about it. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

If you used PayPal, you’re absolutely covered if it goes wrong. Relax, they err very strongly on protecting the buyer. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

It's still this evening. Yeah, you're being "over paranoid". Chill out. Btw, I read the entire post, not just the part quoted. Q

Thanks everybody. I guess just a byproduct of aging, I’m finding that things that never concerned me in my younger years now do and the other way around. Found my early Christmas present to myself, a Bulova Accutron Spaceview watch from the 60’s. I always wanted one and found what I hoped was a good one in the price range I wanted to be in. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. eBay lean so heavily towards buyer protection, I wouldn’t be worried for another week. Also, did you happen to notice the Sellers location and whether it’s somewhere affected by recent weather? You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Many times those of us in business are a one man shop. Perhaps the seller only has so much time in the day, and he can either spend it shipping product or updating his customers every 5 minutes. Sounds like you’d rather have him shipping your purchase, so I wouldn’t worry too much about the lack of regular email communication.

I've had that happen but never been burned. As others have mentioned, they go overboard to protect the buyer. More annoying to me is when some sellers quickly print the shipping label so eBay thinks it's been shipped but don't actually deliver it to the shipping Co for several more days or a week sometimes. Even then, if it didn't actually arrive, I would be protected. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I wouldn't worry too much based on only a couple transactions a year. I only occasionally use Ebay for some items I can't get elsewhere. They are way behind shipping effectiveness and communication that Amazon provides. If you use Amazon as the standard (for timely shipping, notifications) you will be sorely disappointed elsewhere.

I have used ebay for many years and hundreds of purchases, without any loss of money and very few seller problems. The biggest farce is the USPS function, or lack thereof. I currently have an ebay purchase that has spent a week traveling from Minnesota to North Dakota to "Next Destination", then back to North Dakota then on to Illinois, then to "Next Destination" again.

You might consider where the seller's located. There's a weather event in the southeast...

Shit don't mean shit |
Coincidentally, I bought an item Monday morning and the seller shipped it yesterday (Thursday) afternoon. I wasn't too worried, but it's something I need! I'll have it Monday, which sucks because I wanted to put it on this weekend.
