^^^ You're joking, right. Did you miss the part where the windshield shooter pursues the other guy at 93 MPH (actually over 100 if you look at the video) and starts shooting?

Like I said. there is fight or flight. Sometimes Flight is actually the correct course of action, believe it or not.

Orange County, what an idiot, brake checks and caused an accident, discharges a firearm,

When you drive be extra careful now, there's a plethora of a'holes who've been cooped up for months and are powderkegs with short fuses out there...

We've already got "Kentucky Windage", so I guess that makes this "Florida Elevation"?

Where does it show him "pursuing" anyone? All I see is him speeding for like "3" seconds at beginning of clip. That doesn't indicate any kind of "pursuit" was going on. If the speed limit is 80, it's not that fast. It wasn't like he was driving through a neighborhood school zone at 95, he was on a highway with little traffic.

How do you know he was "pursuing" the other vehicle? There might be a million things cut from the video, but from the video actually shown, you're making a big jump to say he's "pursuing" anyone.

Not saying he was or wasn't pursuing, but I don't make stuff up from 3 seconds of video. Shooting through his windshield was questionable, but so what. From the video and picture of the other guy's car, the only actual thing you or anyone else can say is that someone else pointed a gun at him, and he responded. Perhaps poorly, but shit happens when someone points a gun at you.

In addition to inexperience, the eye closing portion is likely exacerbated by the debris that flies off the inside of the windshield when shooting through it.

Even when shooting from inside a stationary car during training, some of the windshield safety glass blows back on the shooter as an abrasive dust with some larger glass fragments too, with subsequent shots loosening even more debris from the new hole as well as from the previous holes. (It's bad enough that we've had it get behind the students' shooting glasses during Vehicle CQB classes, if they aren't tight enough to the face.)

Not only is this guy not wearing any eye protection, but I suspect the debris blowback would be even worse inside a moving vehicle, with even more glass dust/fragments being pushed inward at him by the 90+ MPH wind.

The screenshot you posted PROVES that the idiot should go to jail. WHEN he fired, his life was not in danger, since at that point, the Z driver posed no threat to his safety.

For the sake of the argument, I will concede that the driver of the Z brandished a firearm (since this point is mostly irrelevant). But, then, the Z passed the idiot and accelerated away. Look at that photo again. There is NO WAY that the Z driver could aim a weapon at the idiot. The Z is in front of the idiot pulling away. AT THAT POINT, the Z driver is no longer a threat. It's no different than shooting a fleeing suspect in the back AFTER he a brandished a weapon at you. While he is pointing a weapon at you, he is a threat and can be shot. Once he disengages and flees, he is no longer an immediate threat to you.

Unless that Z had a passenger that could climb halfway out of the car to aim backwards, there was no possible way for the Z driver to endanger the idiot. Therefore, the idiot was using lethal force where there was no longer a threat to his safety.

Heck, he should be put in jail just for shooting through the window at high speed on the interstate. Isn't firing a firearm on a public street/hiway/etc already a crime, unless there are mitigating circumstances? The idiot has no business owning a firearm. He demonstrated in that video breathtakingly poor decision-making abilities and an uncontrollable temper (since he provoked the incident by brake-checking the Z and causing the accident in the first place). He could have killed himself and his passenger due to his extreme recklessness.

How do you get whatever it is your getting at from a STILL picture? How do you know the time relationship from when he fired to where the z-car is? How do you know the z-car is not slowing down to take a better shot? How do you know he's accelerating away? I showed the picture to prove that someone was pointing a gun at him and that could cause him to fear for his life and cause him to react (for better or worse). You're the one who says he should be in JAIL for defending himself. No we may not like the way he defended himself, but at what point are you going to stop second guessing him with facts you continue to make up from vids and pictures that do NOT show the "facts" you keep making up?

I'm not going to argue the guy is not an idiot. He probably is, But I'm also not willing to 2nd guess even an idiot's actions, when someone else pointed and gun at him and threatened his life.

As you are "asking" whether it is crime or not to fire a firearm on a public street, means you do NOT know yourself, so blaming another person for maybe or maybe not breaking a law you yourself don't know is a crime, is pure hypocrisy to continue to say this man should be in jail. Does this mean YOU should not own a firearms for not knowing whether it's illegal or not?

I will agree with you on this point. But then again, he DIDN'T kill anyone. Just because someone "coulda, woulda, shoulda" doesn't automatically mean they should be sent to jail. He turned himself in. He didn't try to hide his mistakes and admitted his stupidity. But he DID probably feel his life was in immediate dange at the time. Should he go to jail for fearing for his life, shooting out his window in reaction, and then being honest about screwing up when he didn't actually hurt anyone?

Just the sound pressure alone from shooting in a small enclosed place is going to make the face wince automatically. You can't train away all autonomous bodily reactions completely, just lessen them and the affect they have.

Roll Eyes
So, I'm 'continuing to make up facts?'

Sheesh.

Look at the video where the idiot opens fire. The idiot was firing his weapon directly ahead. Meaning, the Z was directly in front of the idiot's truck. I can't see how the Z driver could pose any threat to the idiot from directly ahead. THEREFORE, the idiot was NOT 'defending himself.' He was acting as an aggressor using deadly force without justification. Unless there was a passenger physically climbing out his side window, there is no way the driver could aim a weapon directly back at the idiot.

I don't freaking live in Florida, so I don't know what their specific laws are. Everywhere I've lived, it was a crime to discharge a firearm from a public roadway. Basic 'you can't hunt from your car' stuff. Forgive me for not knowing every gun law in all 50 states and territories.

Does 'reckless endangerment' mean anything to you? It doesn't matter whether he injured anybody or not - his actions were grossly irresponsible and almost certainly illegal. He was NOT 'defending himself.' He provoked a road rage incident and responded with deadly force when it was not justified.

Not at the least, he started the whole thing, he noticed the Z coming up the ramp quickly and decided that he did not like the way the guy was driving, and he brake checked the car, causing a collision.

It's quite clear from the beginning he was the instigator and agitated, not only did he brake check the following car he then chased the car up over 100 MPH on a busy toll way.

He should go to jail for several things, aggressive and hostile driving, brake checking, leaving the scene of the accident, firing his weapon, the guy has clear control and anger issues.

If anything the Z car was the one defending themselves from the guy in the truck...

He should be butt sitting bubba in 33rd street...

After we retired my wife and I bought a winter home in Florida and really enjoy it. BUT I must say you better be on your toes driving down there. It was one of the first things I noticed.....they drive like idiots down there. Maybe it's just all of us old fools away from home for the winter.

I remember a while ago, maybe a few years, that 2 concealed carriers in Michigan had a road rage incident and they pulled over and eventually shot each other dead.
Wish this was the case here. Cleanse the gene pool a bit.
