I used to have the Bose Quiet-control earbuds with the neckband. The noise cancelling was incredible. I also have the Sony 1000XM4 earbuds which are nowhere near as good at noise cancelling. Has anybody used both the old Quiet-control earbuds and the newer Quiet Comfort 2 earbuds? I’d like to know if they are as good as the old neckband buds.
i have the new Bose earbuds. No experience with the older or Sony ones. But they sound fantastic. Problem is when on an airplane. There's really no way to tether them to yourself and, if you drop one or fall asleep and it falls out, you're going to have a hard time finding it.
With my Apple AirPods I have a rubber tether around the back of my neck to keep them from disappearing if one falls out.
I also think the Bose ear buds cancel ambient noise a little too well. I like to be able hear a little of what's going on around me. I wear the AirPods most of the time, the Bose when I'm in a totally contolled-access environment and don't need to talk with anyone.

I have that same ghost, but she...errr...I mean it doesn't snore. Just ask.

I have both the first QC Earbuds and the QCEB II. They are better than the QC30, but as they don't have a wire they can be lost in bed easier. I don't have a problem with them falling out under normal use, they're very secure in my ears, but I don't know about sleeping. The series II are a heck of a lot smaller than the first though.

Same feedback as the others. They sound great and cancel noise exceptionally well on airplanes. I travel with them often.
One oddity - I've used them doing yard work and when the line trimmer hits a metal fence post the noise cancelling freaks out. It's pulsating the noise cancelling waves so quickly and strongly that it's really unpleasant. It almost amplifies the sound from the line strikes because the noise cancelling can't keep up with how fast the line hits the post.

Bose QC noise cancellation level can be adjusted. I've got a refurb set of original ones and used them on a cross-country flight. They definitely made the trip more comfortable. Benefit of QC2 is that you can use either side as a single...the originals, only the right side can be used as a single. For a flight or music, both work best but using them for work...I like just having one in so I can be aware of surroundings and carry on a conversation in the room if needed without having to take them out.

Update: I received the Bose QuirtComfort Ultra earbuds today. The active noise cancelling makes the Sony noise cancelling look like child’s play by comparison. It’s not even close. I can recommend the Bose if you want to block out noise.
My wife was referred to a sleep clinic. They did a sleep test that showed she has mild sleep apnea. I could have told them that. She will probably try CPAP to see if that improves her sleep. Just sayin’—snoring—loud snoring, like you want to move into the next room or get some noise-canceling earbuds—is often a sign of obstructive sleep apnea.
