LeemurBurger King Ruined Their Whopper
During a snow storm last winter, BK was my only option within walking distance. I should’ve just gone hungry.

I’m sure it was because Miracle Whip is cheaper because it has less vegetable oil in it than mayo and vegetable oil is very expensive as are eggs right now.
I was wondering how you can complain; I thought don't you still get it your way at burger king?
But when you mention the sauce, I can understand. That is one thing that stands in my mind is the flavor of the sauce. I haven't had one in a while. Whenever I used to order, I'd order extra onions and extra tomatoes.

If they really did that, I'm probably done with BK. I can't stand the taste of Miracle Whip.
I had a Bacon King a month or so back, and it was as tasty as ever.

HildurKind of on the same note: I used to love McDonalds french fries when I was a kid. Donuts too. I don't know if it's because trans fats were banned or if the fry oil changed but in the 80s I would crave McDonalds french fries or a Boston Creme from Dunkin Donuts. I had both two months ago after not having either in years. All I could think was "terrible, what a waste of calories."
I was a BK fan but the only one in town closed a few years ago and I would never drive 10+ minutes to eat fast food.

corsairI used to appreciate a Whopper but, like Carl's Jr Super Star, the meat is tasteless, the cheese is never melted, the buns are pathetic and the rest of the construction usually looks like hell. I'll stick with In n'Out, Five Guys and Whataburger for fast-food burgers.

jprebbI kinda coined the phrase "they Taco Belled themselves". Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, etc...they've squeezed all the tastiness out of their food to lower food costs and now the food just sucks.
I remember Pizza Hut deep dish pizza being really good. Now they don't have fresh dough...it's frozen and you can taste the difference.

signewtit's hard to find a decent drive thru burger joint around here these days. A few new spots such as 5 guys & the rarity of a real Burgerville leaves the few burgers I can stand requiring modifying 'my way' , including emphasis to not go to the worst places.
Grilled onions & yellow mustard & good meat on a decent bun is the most I can hope for these days. Some BK are simply unedible even with this simple chore. About once a year I give in to CarlsJr hoping for they haven't further declined.
Decades ago my route had been limited to a Denny's by desert-travel availability. It had won the war with self-announced 'worst breakfast in Oregon'; pancake/egg/coffee $1.25 for years. And years. I finally quit stopping there, migrating to Denny's. When Denny's couldn't get an order of buttered toast & black coffee right 4 times in a row, I made the manager understand why I was never coming back.

ranger312There were 2 BK's in town here. Both buildings were neglected and the food got to be terrible. 1 finally closed and was torn down. The other one is limping along with few customers. Building is really lookin shabby lately.
They seemed to really start going downhill when they merged with Tim Hortons in Canada a few years back

sjtillMeanwhile, here in CA there is always a line at most In-n-Out Burger places, day and night.
Burger is not broiled, but bun is toasted; it's fresh; fries are made fresh from whole potatoes; fresh tomato and onion on top. Yummm!
Personally I can't stand mayo or Miracle Whip on a burger, tastes too greasy.
Just catsup for me.

Schmelby99 percent of the time I make my own. Good ground beef, a slice of good cheese,
fresh lettuce and tomato, sauteed onions, BBQ sauce and tarter sauce.
Messy but good. If we go to a chain Culvers is pretty good.
Wendys has become hit or miss. The last Whopper I got was 7 or 8 years ago,
took two bites and threw the rest away, terrible.

myrottietyThing that gets me. I like Lettuce, onions, tomatoes on my burgers if it's an option. They use this shredded lettuce that's super meh. One reason I prefer wendy's burgers in a pinch. Big ole' leaf lettuce on it.

Taco Bell... *sigh*...
I'm not saying it was good food, but, it could be quite tasty. When we moved to where we are now there were no Taco Bells nearby, so no more Taco Bell. Then they opened a new one down the street a few years back. Yay! \o/
The stuff was about as tasteless as you could get without actually
being cardboard

Now Taco Bell is dead to me.

If you have a Culvers near you they have very tasty burgers, butter bun, all fresh made, nothing sits around in a hopper, and the fries are excellent.

RightwireBurger King is in trouble. Most of the restaurants around here were barely functional and finally many of them closed. If they don't figure this out they'll be headed for acquisition or liquidation.

Ever since the Canadian Tim Horton's bought them out.
I agree with HRK, Culvers makes the best fast food burgers these days.

Culvers is awesome. I was pleasantly shocked when they opened a new full DQ restaurant near me, their burgers are VERY good.

ftttuI never think of BK when I’m hungry for fast food. I’m not against them, but with a Whataburger at the same shopping center, I don’t ever consider it. I will only go if others suggest it or it is the only option.
I ate at BK frequently as a kid since my mother rarely cooked and our BK was a short walking distance away. I still remember the taste, but I can’t remember if the last whopper I had, which was in the last couple of years, had the same taste as back in the day.
One reason I didn’t eat at the couple near our area later in life was both always had that slippery/greasy floor, and their employees didn’t maintain the stores as they should have been.

You talked me into it. I have to run a couple errands today, I'll stop at the Culver's that's sort of across the street from Mullinax Ford in Apopka and pick up a couple, on my way home. I'll report back later, with a food critic review.
Probably won't be as tasty as the corned beef and pastrami combination on rye that I had yesterday when Edmond and I had lunch at DB Pickles on Nova Road (Ormond? Holly Hill? Not sure where the city line is), just north of Florida Gun Exchange.
