techguyBifocal contacts?
Any of you folks wear bifocal contacts? Do they work properly for you? Thanks.

AirpusherI wear them and I have astigmatism. One is for close up and the other one is distance. Doc said my brain sorted out the details. Been wearing them for six years, I still prefer my glasses but my job is easier for me with contacts

mcrimmI think you have monovision correction - which is what i have had for 30 years or so. Bifocal contacts are different, I believe .

That isn't "bifocal" otherwise known as multifocal, what you have is monovision. I also use monovision.

bcereussWhether or not they work for you depends on your motivation, expectations, spectacle Rx and daily tasks...in roughly that order.
Then, it is up to you and your eye doc to try various options with regard to materials, lens design, bifocal type, replacement modality, etc.
Multifocal contacts aren’t cheap, but can work great...I wear them...but mostly for play.

SigSACI used multi-focal lenses for a while. I still had to use over the counter glasses for reading and computer work.
Note that I am far-sighted - your mileage may vary if you're near-sighted(I don't know if they make them for near-sighted). For me, I lost a little bit of clarity at almost all distances in trade for being able to avoid glasses for most activities.

V-TailNot contacts, but when I had my cataracts done, corrective lenses were implanted. IOL.
The doc offered me a choice of distant correction, near vision correction, or one of each (monovision).
I chose distant correction, so I can walk around, drive, fly, without glasses. I use reading glasses for desk work and reading.
Of course, I'm used to glasses anyway, have worn them daily for over 75 years. My face doesn't feel right if I don't have glasses on.
