So I live in a subdivision with the closest wood line about 60 yards or more to my front and hundreds of yards to my rear. No power lines etc.
So color me surprised when I hear two owls having a conversation with each other out back. So I poke my head out and without any light I see the silhouettes of two good sized owls perched on my neighbors roof peak just chillin. Literally as it’s like 10 degrees. Hope they aren’t looking for mice because I would guess their butts are frozen.
Anyway it was super cool to see and listen to these two for a good 45 min until they decided to move on.
So what I am saying is I am drinking a nice bourbon and got to see a couple of nice sized hooters as well, a good night.

There's a pair in my backyard, up in some pine trees, who like talking to one across the street.
My best estimate is we have four in the neighborhood though unlike the OP, I have to see them even with a light. Dang things will talk even as I shine the light into the trees trying to see them. lol
