We are planning in the next 2 years or so to put in a pool in our Florida home in the Villages.

Our neighbor hired a company that is now working on a quote for us. This video below is my neighbor (so please don't put any negative Youtube comments).

I don't know anything about shotcrete, but this looks really rough to me. I realize it will be coated and look great when done, but should the concrete look like this when it's done being shot, or should it be smooth. My concern would be the quality if there is air pockets/holes throughout...

Skip to about 18:20 to see the final product. The rest is just them doing the work...

These go to eleven.

We had a pool built about a year ago. Ours looked a lot like that before the pebbletec was applied.
I'll try to find a few photos

^^^^

Cool, thanks for the pic. I googled some videos and it does appear fairly normal.

Looks normal to me and I have had my pool for over 20 yrs. My video of our pool being built is identical. I have seen more than a few being built and they all look the same as your video.

That's the first time I've ever seen that technology. It's pretty impressive. Looks like you're going to have a nice result.

Yep pretty normal, the final coat will be smooth

Get the Pebble Tech finish, small pebbles not big ones or it will be like walking in a creek when you touch bottom.

We did the Radiant Finish with the reflective bits in it.

The inside corners are sharp. Pools I have see all have had radiused inside corners. Perhaps they do that now because of robotic cleaners.

I worked pool construction in HS and college. We used shotcrete. That’s looks totally normal. I’m surprised by the small size and why so much raised beams and walls. Do you have low water tables? And the plumbing should have been done before shot Crete. If you mean setting the equipment, that’s fine.

Pretty normal. The plaster or whatever you want to call the finish material fills the voids.

Neighbor wanted a small pool. The level of the pool is to match the level of the lanai. The wall in back is a water feature. Just rewatched and it does seem like they don't have plumbing in. They have holes for it. I know the back wall water feature, they had boxes built into it to add the plumbing. I will ask the builder about that, since I have also only ever seen plumbing in before the concrete.
