The wife complains about dust. Our HVAC guy recommends PlasmaPure 1500 for $998. Has an Ion something in it.

Opinions?

Here is some info on it. Seems to me it's really not a filter.

Check to see if they need replacing regularly. We bought UV "filters" for our home units that cost a thousand bucks. 2 year later we find out they need replacing every 2 years.

My wife and I live in a house that is only 1000 square feet.

In our living room we have a large 3 stage air purifier, in each bedroom a small 3 stage unit and one small 3 stage unit in the main hall way.
The living room unit and the hall unit are on high most of the time and the filters need to be replaced about every 3 weeks.

The bedroom units are on medium to low and are replaced when the replace filter light comes on.

I use decent pleated air filters in our HVAC system and change them every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the time of the year.

I vacuum at least once a week in a house that is 90% carpeted and am amazed at the amount of dust I vacuum up. Its a fine grey powdery dust and I have no idea where it all comes from.

If you end up going with this system please let us know, I am out of ideas/ways to reduce or eliminate the dust in my house.

I don't think you're going to like the fact that it is mostly sloughed-off human skin cells.

We use a Corsi Rosenthal box and MERV 13 filters. It's a lot less than $1000 and cleans the air better than anything else available as far as I know.

Cars should be around $10,000, take away all the electronic bullshit. The last car I know of offered a stripped down version was Honda with the Civic DX and it was 10 years ago or more.

IF your house is on a slab with heat ducts below the floor encased in concrete the ducts rot and you are blowing concrete dust all over the house.
Years ago in NW Ohio there was a rash of this.. The underground 6" duct was just 26ga galvanized pipe and rotted out.
One guy " known drug user/seller" was even arrested for having Coke all over his end tables and coffee tables until the POPO tested and found it was concrete dust.

That would make sense. My guess it is about a 1/2 pound of dust a month or more.

We live on a concrete slab but our ducts are in the attic and walls.
