12131postimage and imgur are what I see used most often. This happened after the Photobucket fiasco a couple of years ago.

RogueJSKI like Imageshack. Well worth the $18.99/year I pay for it. (I'm grandfathered in at a cheaper rate than usual.)
Much better interface and functionality than the various free hosts.

Jimbo54I use Postimage because it's free, easy to use and it just plain works.

mark123These are all fine until there not.
It's best to procure hosting service and do it for yourself. I've seen it for as low as $1/month.

AKSuperDuallyI use facebook.
I upload a picture with the intended audience/security option of "only me" selected.
Once uploaded, right click and grab the image url, and post in the usual way here.
Never had a problem. I had a flickr pro account forever ago and didn't notice/forgot to update my credit card with them after changing numbers due to a credit card theft. I lost all my thousands of pictures they had been hosting for me for over a decade. I never went back. It was my fault, but I just couldn't bring myself to give them money again. Facebook has worked awesome for this for several years now.

flashguyI don't think the site itself has a preferred method, members are free to use whatever tool is handy. I use Flickr because I'm already a paid subscriber to it and the tool for Share makes it easy to post photos from there and still follow their rules (Flickr insists that photos hosted there must include a link back to it as part of the posting--failure to follow their rule can result in denial of service).

wreckdiverHate to pull up an old thread, but I want to post pictures and wondered if it was possible to do it from iCloud. I'm a computer idiot!

Evidently no longer. About a dozen years no longer ...

Frankly, you chose the wrong thread to pull up as there are dozens of more helpful threads. I say that because there are actually two types of pictures for Sigforum:
1) Avatars
2) Pictures in posts
All of the links posted in this thread work for the 2nd, but only about half of them work for the first. The free sites prohibit using their site for avatar hosting in their terms of service as it's too much traffic (TinyPic was the last to do it for free). A free site might work for a while, but it'll get shut off (e.g. mine worked for about 10 days at PostImage). The pay sites work for avatar hosting, and there are also several Sigforumites (e.g. Creslin) who host avatars for free on their servers. My avatar is an animated gif hosted on Creslin's server.
