Still waiting on all my misc. reports. Even though my return isn't as complicated as it once was, I still use a preparer since I can call the CPA half of the team at anytime during the year if I have a tax question. I won't get my forms from my Broker until the end of February so I've got a ways to go.

Two years ago I filed EARLY, like before Jan 31,only to find out when I logged in later on my tax software. There had been a tax law update. Turned out, I got back like $1,200 more. So there are possible drawbacks filing to early. ...You, higher mammal. Can you read? ....There's nothing sexier than a well worn, functional Sig!

I don't get you guys at all. Do you like to loan the gov't money all year? In Jan you figure out the 90% or whatever is your no penalty witholding status and step up to that level of witholding. Then in April you file. Get to keep and use your money as long as possible. In an inflationary situation that's are return way better than even the best safe investments. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Are you not waiting on any brokerage statements or are you relying on your records for your dividends and capital gains? Schwab has two uploads, Feb 10 and Feb 17 for any lagging reports. I asked how can I tell if I should expect any new statements on Feb 17 and they said they don't know. It depends. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Most expensive obstacle I have gotten out of the way so far is property taxes in central Texas. It keeps going up every single year and I had to pay over $13K this year for my house and land. I am still waiting for everything to come in to file federal taxes. Gotta love government taxes! NRA Benefactor Life Member

Fidelity notified me that tax docs were ready on their website.
Yup, property taxes in TX is a joke. Have no land to speak of, and I'm paying almost 6k this year. These fuckers continue to appraise your property higher and higher each year. Q

I'll file sometime in April. My goal is always to break even. If I wanted a pay as you go savings account, I'd start a Christmas Club. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

But no income tax Government is gonna eat guys. We have a fixed income tax and it actually rolled back this year because of inflation. Our property taxes can't go up more that the inflation rate or 5% whichever is LESS. it's 5% this year. Local sales taxes are prohibited. State Sales Tax is 6% Like I said, government is gonna get their cut, no matter the source __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

Got mine finished just now, and the federal return was already accepted within a few minutes of efiling, which seems speedier than usual. Had a tiny federal refund this year, so was able to grab a couple additional $50 paper I-Bonds.

I’ve been using TurboTax for 15+ years now; originally bought the software and then started doing the online version. I actually switched to H&R Block Online this year, TT was getting annoying with the constant upselling and their prices are higher than H&R Block. Since we sold our rental property and wife is now FT stay at home mother and not working, our return is actually very simple now and I think my federal e-file with H&R was like $41 total, that would have been something like double that with TT. For you guys complaining about your property taxes in states that don’t have an income tax, keep in mind that I actually paid more income tax to the state of Pennsylvania than I did to federal for 2022. It sucks, and no refund from PA

I paid $44 for Turbotax Deluxe with federal e-file and one state return included. That's ~$3 more than you paid for H&R, not double. And you can get Deluxe with federal e-file but without a state return included for $37, which is ~$4 less than you paid for your H&R federal e-file.

That's what I paid for TurboTax Deluxe and it also came with 1 free State as well as the free e-filing.

Well for some reason TT wouldn’t recognize/understand that I went from being a landlord and having wife working PT to a simple return as it kept trying to force me into the package that was much higher than $44 I think I paid $180 last year to e-file Fed/State with TT with the package I was using.
