Your boats have to be out of the water and in storage by midnight tomorrow, September 2, 2025.

Its the law. Written in stone. Demanded by civilized society. Don't make the President have to issue an executive order.

During dinner yesterday I told my wife it's labor day weekend and I don't have to put the patio furniture in the shed and close the pool for the winter. It's kinda nice.

I'm surprised there were any left for you to deal with down there...I thought they were all up here.

I know better but I made the mistake of going out on the lake yesterday. The boat ramp should have been my first clue that this was a horrible idea. Backlogged with idiots who don't know how to back a trailer or load a boat trying to haul their giant pontoons out.

The lake itself was a mess. Wake going every which way, big patches of torn up aquatic plants floating everywhere, and pleasure boaters parked in all the good fishing spots...which didn't matter because the fish were all hiding anyway.

On the upside they all probably are packing up and heading back to Chicago or Indy for the winter. Should still be a few weeks left of decent weather to fish in peace.

Yes! Post Labor day. Now us locals can get out and enjoy to woods and water without having to fight through throngs of Washingtonians. When Trump is done with the the southern border wall, he needs to build one around Washington.

By August 15th we're all sick of tourons. I start my countdown clock. It's down to ONE. We say "buh-bye" to every southbound RV and out-of-state plate. To be fair, most people who visit really aren't a problem but the entitled ones make it bad for the rest of them.

Typical touron story: a man gets swept out into Lake Michigan by a strong rip current and drowns in front of his family. Dive team is in the water, fire and EMS standing by, equipment everywhere. A female comes up to me and announces that SHE is going swimming because SHE is on vacation and SHE is leaving tomorrow. I looked at her and said "Go ahead. We're looking for one body, what's one more?" She didn't think I was very friendly.

I could give you a dozen more but you get the picture. Touron is a contraction for "Tourist moron". A title that's earned not given.

Hey, the dive team benefits from any training they get!

We use the term FISH, or FISHTAB...but it's less polite.

Was she stupid enough to go swimming or did she heed your warning?

Frankly, I had better things to do than babysit her entitled ass. However, we didn't have to look for her so she evidently survived.

On another beach adventure I had a woman ask me if I could get the EMTs to move their rig so she could get into the parking lot because she wanted to swim. She didn't like me much either.

Here in the Yoop, it is pleasant to see the tourists escaping us. It is only hindered by the Mackinac Bridge being closed from 6:30 AM until noon. So Queen Gretchen the First and her minions can trot across the bridge. Roll Eyes

Remember when she tried to jump the line to get her boat out before Memorial Day during COVID?

Maybe her heels will get caught in the grates.

Fuck that Washington wall. Build a wall around Chicago first. Nobody get's out except CPDSIG and Klusk.

I am SO GLAD I don't have to do winter prep on a Boat anymore. There are a few days every summer when I miss an outing on my Boat. However I just don't miss it enough to ever get another boat.

I've stopped counting.

Yeah, glad I don't have to winterize and store a boat this year.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Contrary to the 'popular thinking' by a many (most?) people, the outdoor fun weather/season neither ends on Labor Day, nor begins on Memorial Day! This includes the northern latitudes of the contiguous U.S. (a.k.a. Lower 48), where we enjoy all four seasons, and possibly a fifth if you count mud season. Just sayin... Wink

When I lived in Portland we (meaning, my conservative friends and I) used to joke about building a wall along the Oregon-California border. Now I'm thinking they should just build one long wall running all along the eastern borders of California, Oregon AND Washington.

Oh I'm right there with you! My outdoor season actually goes into full swing after labor day because all the warm-weather out-of-state assholes go back where they came from and get out of the way! The fish bite better when the water isn't 85 degrees anyway.
