I couldn't tell from the video, did it have Acme painted on the side?

People have died from drinking too much water. People have died from drinking too much alcohol. Is drinking water as dangerous to one’s health as drinking alcohol?

There are dangers associated with virtually everything we do, but some things are more dangerous than others. Leaving the ground on a rocket falls into the more dangerous category, but especially without the benefits of the knowledge and technical expertise of the people who have been doing it mostly successfully for decades.

I see no reason to celebrate this man’s death, but it’s not as if it was unexpected.

Sometimes it seems we are a bit harsh on others dreams.

It would only take a few minutes to cobble together an impressive list of people who died riding/ flying rockets built by the best and brightest. Are their deaths somehow more meaningful for having died as a result of crashing in a "professionally designed" rocket?

I hope the last revelation Flat Earth Mike had was "Shit. It IS round".

Jules Verne would have been proud of him.

Well, partly.

Not only detached, it looks like it actually deployed. Premature ejection of the drogue chute is also what doomed Evel Knievel's attempted jump of the Snake River Canyon in the mid-70s.

Some eyewitnesses report seeing rubbing of the parachute assemblies against the launch tower upon take-off.

I read that the rocket scraped on the launch assembly during takeoff, and appeared to damage the parachutes. I believe many, many persons with a reasonable amount of technical could build a moderate lift rocket such as this, and be successful.

His first successful launch was in 2018, he's dead less than 2 years later on his second launch.

Age is inconsequential where Darwin is concerned.

That part is utterly ridiculous and ridicule-worthy for the ages.

The rest was spectacularly unfortunate.

But it took much courage to get into that device and pull the trigger. I know you guys will call it a dumb move. Could of been. But impressive none the less.
Rip Mike.

Based on the look on his face in the photo opp, did I detect any unplaced pride or hubris ? Naw... he was a great man, all the way to the flat ground, at least he was right about the groud at least, a high price to prove that at least the ground is flat. And very hard too ...
I am not usually saddened by fools or cranks accidentally killing themselves during incredibly high risk manuvers (stunts).
