Got armadillos in the yard. Live in a residential neighborhood. Can’t use a firearm.
Any other ideas ?

If you put in a patch of asphalt with a yellow line in your yard, they will end up dead near the yellow line. They just can't resist it.

I guess that lets out the first S in SSS, then.
A - put out traps. Animal control might come and pick them up. If not, what you do with the caught ones is your business. I know nothing. B - figure out what is attracting them - usually it is food - and (if feasible) remove said food source.

Yeah. Can’t SSS.
I had heard that they were after the grubs, kind of like moles but wasn’t sure if some grub control applications would help them go elsewhere or not.

And true enough about the yellow line. LOL. I’ve actually never seen a live armadillo but I know they’re out there cause they keep dying on the side of the road.

They are hard to trap as they can't really be baited. They can be herded as they usually follow edges along beds, etc. If you have a commonly used path they follow you can use a couple long boards in a Y ending with the trap. I have caught them that way before but it is not very common.
The other way is to treat the yard with Grubex, etc to kill off the food.
I use a suppressed Ruger MkIV aka the Dilla Killa.

Armadillos carry leprosy. Don't touch 'em.
If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there.

Para, my friend, you always bring it … with both barrels!
I don’t know where you find all of your “contributions” but they’re great.

What about a pellet rifle?
Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Armadillos can be a huge problem. I have to deal with them every year. They dig for worms and grubs and can destroy your lawn in just a night or two. I have never heard of anyone being able to trap one, you pretty much have to kill them. Here is my experience.
They will show up in my front and back yards in the fall. Just about now. They come late at night, well after I am in bed so you must be prepared for that. I tape a strong light to my .410 and that will get the job done. A .22 or pellet gun would only work with a head shot and that would be tough to do at night. Disposing of them is easy for me but it sounds like it would be more difficult for you.
I do see them occasionally driving around the farm and I carry a .17 HMR on my SxS just for them. The guy that owns the farm next to ours has the same problem and he also uses a .410 but has dispatched them with his .45...so there is that.
I know none of this helps you but I do want wish you luck. Once the armadillo community discovers that your place is easy feeding you are in for a battle.

When foraging at night, they are in constant motion, heads bobbing and weaving.

Body shots are unsatisfactory with low powered projectiles.

You don't have to shoot them in the head.
I had my patience tested... I'm negative.

A perfect opportunity to visit pyramidair.com for a .457 caliber, supersonic constant pressure precision air rifle.
People hunt feral pigs with these things. A ‘dillo won’t stand a chance.

I have trapped them in my garden using the channeling method by funneling them along the fence into the Hava-trap. You need a big enough trap. Look for the burrow and set up your corral so they have to go toward the trap. We have noted they will dig up yellow jacket nests in the winter so that is something. I am in the country so shooting them is my best option.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This works. Maybe the Southern Armadillo is easier to trap. BTW armadillos could cross the road except for their instincts. They jump when they sense danger right into the undercarriage of your car. They are also edible and taste like possum. Popular south of the border.

CCI Quiet .22 LR . Fairly quiet out of a rifle . Your neighbors won't know where the noise came from .

Actually, they are the only mammal aside from humans that CAN carry Leprosy...they don't necessarily have it.
I had to put up 24" chicken wire fence to keep the out.
