quote:
Denmark wanted to demonstrate the strength and endurance of one of its SeaHawk MH-60R helicopters by subjecting it to a chaotic storm in the middle of the Atlantic while trying to land on a light Thetis class frigate.

In addition to the difficulties caused by the weather condition, it must be taken into account that the frigate is much smaller than an aircraft carrier or helicopter carrier,

As you will see in this video, the visibility, the measurements of the heliport and the continuous waves make the landing very complicated.

"Her testes Seahawk i Nordatlantern"? I think that's Danish for "Big Balls on Seahawk pilot in North Atlantic."

And in another helicopter video:

That deckhand is lucky to be alive.

I think the first video was prolonged for the drama effect.

In the second video, I can see a rope or cable still tied to the helicopter as it tried to take off and the cable just acted like a leash and took the helo down to the water.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Lol,
I did small Helicopter Detachments on USN Destoryers, Cruisers and Frigates for 25 years. Heavy seas were always a good time.
its not as bad as you think though. Accidents do happen though, a felliw CPO in one of my squadrons was killed when he was hit in the head by a rotorblade.
