If you're a bushcrafter, you know this man's face. He was one of the two original cast members of the show Dual Survival and for the last decade or so, he has been a prominent figure for those interested in bushcrafting and survival techniques. I don't know the man personally but from everything I hear, he's a really nice guy. He and his family are OK but he lost pretty much everything, including his dog.

This is not an appeal for anyone here to help the man. Based upon his remarks in the video, that machinery is already in motion.

Losing everything in a fire/tornado/whatever is one of my greatest fears, as it is for everyone, I suppose.

That's a damn shame. I've probably seen every eposode with my grandsons and the show sparked the bushcraft bug with the boys.
My favorite eposode was when Dave cut open his arm and clamped the wound with ant heads.
Thanks for posting,

.

It certainly is one of my greatest fears, even stronger than death. If I die, my wife will be well taken care of. If I lose everything, I believe we'll be struggling with insurances, etc. Damned beaurocracy!!!

Glad all the humans got out. Sad they lost a dog. Pets become part of the family. I know I've always worried about what mine may do in a fire. I know hiding is in their nature.

Horrible nightmare for his family.

Hopefully it inspires people to get a fireproof safe or an external drive to store at another family member's house. You might not be able to save everything, but you can have backups of photographs or other important documents. Even a picture of something passed down through your family is better than nothing.

I met a lady whose house burned down. Twice. No one hurt, but everything lost and not completely replaced. Twice. It was pretty remarkable how well she was able to carry on.

When you lose everything, which once we did, you feel stripped; peeled like a banana. Exposed and lost. I am sorry for his loss. Glad he is alive though.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've watched Dual Survival, and definitely felt the show was better back when he was on it. Dave seems to be a decent guy, and I hope he and his family are back on their feet soon. Glad they are ok.
