I have asked this before, but have never gotten an answer. How much money should Wayne LaPierre make? Does the fact that he leads a five million member organization mean anything? The NRA has lots of employees living in a very high cost of living area. Should Wayne make as much as anybody else that works for the NRA? Remember, some NRA employees may not be gun owners but have management or technical skills the NRA needs. I am sure that a top notch accountant or lawyer is not going to take a cut in pay just to work for the NRA. So should Wayne make as much as the janitor? Or the security guard? How about the mail room clerk? Or the accountant that keeps track of membership renewals or various other thing that are necessary for an organization the size of the NRA? Should he make as much as a college football coach? A low level NFL player? Should we entrust the NRA to a guy that works for minimum wage? I wonder how many of you that say you will give once Wayne is gone really will? Or if you went to the best lawyer in town and you thought he made too much money, would you refuse to pay him and go to jail instead? So could someone who thinks he makes too much money tell me what he should make? For the ones that give to Gun Owners of America, how much should the head of that organization make? Do you have any idea who the head of GOA is? How many of his family members does GOA employ? I am sure that since you won't give to the NRA because Wayne makes to much, you most know exactly what the head of GOA makes?
I live in the Washington D.C. area. I read the newspapers every day. I always hear the anti gunners complaining about the NRA. But very seldom hear them mention GOA.
I think it would be a shame if after years of trying to silence the NRA, the anti gunners were finally successful because they convinced gun owners that the head of the NRA made too much money.
I agree completely.
This issue has developed and metastasized from the media and jealousy.
Unfortunately when the optics are more important that the cause the primitive culture come out.
In this age of cancel culture it seems this is the only way we know to act.
It is ironic that this is the way largely Donald Trump has been treated.
In the end we get fucked by a denigrated NRA and losing the greatest POTUS ever.

And what's even scarier - we may need the NRA more than ever very soon.

IMO, the best part of the story was this:
quote:
“LaPierre would have stepped aside a long time ago if his concern was really for the institution,” said Rob Pincus, a lifetime NRA member who has led a campaign to overhaul the organization. “He remains a distraction and a detraction.”
I agree 100% with Pincus and have posted that repeatedly since the story first broke 1.5 years ago. I am an Endowment level member and I want the NRA to be the 800 lb gorrilla that makes Congressional Critters piss their pants. To do that they need to clean house (e.g. LaPierre), set-up appropriate financial controls (fixing their tax return is a good start), treat their legal entities separate as required by laws (i.e. stop intermixing funds), audit their subcontractors (e.g. ad agencies and lawyers), and they need to significantly decrease the number of board members (there is no oversight when there is a 76 member board).
This Benefactor Member agrees with you 100%!
