The latest crew cab F-150 model has a ton of back seat room. The rear seat folds up and the whole floor is flat. Comparing fleet trucks (generally the cheapest model) to your personal vehicle (probably a step or three above the bare bones fleet model) is not exactly apples to apples. Chances are you personal vehicle is treated better than the fleet ones.

The being said, the Toyota is more reliable. The difference in reliability is small enough for me that I would pick whichever vehicle hit my hot buttons.

I have been a Ford guy a long time, but I would buy the Toyota. That being said, I have a buddy who is in the mining industry in Nevada and they use 3/4 and 1 ton Chevys and Fords as fleet vehicles. The acid from underground eats the bodies quick, but the most reliable trucks they have is a fleet of old ford 7.3s. they cant keep the chevys running. even the above ground trucks, i am told that if they have 3 chevys 1 will be running because they were able to scavenge parts from the other 2. it is almost comical.

Both are good vehicles, my F150 is a 2000, 160K, and all I've replaced are gas, tires, oil, and brake pads with rotors, normal stuff.

Nothing falling off, nothing rattle or shaking or squeaking or leaking.

I'm sure the Tundra is well made. Having owned several F150s and Expeditions, they are just about trouble-free and 200k miles is just the beginning of breaking them in. I haven't figured out the limits yet. Two were totaled in accidents after 250k and 300k miles, while fully protecting the occupants. The rest are still running strong. The oldest one still in the fleet is 17 years old and is closing in on 400k miles. It runs great.

I’ve been shopping around for a new Truck myself and like youe I need a bench seat in the front. The Tundra doesn’t have the option for that unless you get the stripped down work truck. SR5 trim and higher comes with a console. They’ve also done that with the Dodge Ram. Ford and Chevy are the only ones that still come with the option of a bench seat on a trim level above work truck. I’m sure you could special order something but you won’t get any good deals that way.

Have a 17 f150 Ecoboost. Just about 12k miles on it and very happy with it. I would get a tundra over a ram or Chevy, but not over an f150.

I'm a deplorable.

I have a 14 Tundra crewmax and would not buy one again. The gas mileage is horrendous. The truck is completely lacking in storage. I can only fit an empty canvas grocery bag under the rear seat.

Tires have not lasted me more than 15k miles and the rear brakes need replaced every 25k miles. And no, I do not drive crazy. I get about 11.5 mpg city and luck to get 15 on the highway.

I’ve put 55,000 miles on my ‘16 f-150. Absolutely no trouble from it even the original tires are in pretty good shape.

Mine has the bench and 4 doors. If you need it then you need it but, the center section is quite an uncomfortable place to be. Think the sideways jump seats of 1992 extended cabs. Try them out before you commit.

New(er) F-150 owner here - 2 years old. Once thing to consider, the MSRP on both trucks look the same. Around here, whatever the Toyota says on the sticker is what you're going to pay. Period. Which is how the 150 I bought had the same MSRP of a Tundra but cost less than a Tacoma but had crap loads more features and super comfortable. No issues with it so far.

ps, I have the extended cab, tip of the hat to the Sig forum guys who turned me onto the locking safe that fits invisibly under the back seat. The $400 cash and lots of very costly tools (like a $100+ hand saw, etc etc etc) were not touched when it broken into. https://www.tuffyproducts.com/...er-seat-storage.aspx https://www.tuffyproducts.com/...er-seat-storage.aspx

Best mileage so far is 26 on a 300 mile stretch of flat highway. I am averaged at 21 overall now, which includes some regular heinous offroad bumpy crap, some city, and boat towing.

Try some other brand other than Michelins Wink

Try another dealership or mechanic. Rear brakes should go close to 200k Eek

I have been very pleased with my 14 Ram crew cab. I believe I could live in the backseat if I had to do so. Plenty of power, solid mileage with the 8 speed(have seen 23 mpg highway before).

No complaints.

Good luck in your search.

I have had this f-150 since 2012. My next truck will be an f-150. Do you have both dealerships locally. We don’t have a Toyota dealership in town which would make servicing more of a challenge.

I have two newer Ford trucks and have been very happy with them. The 2017 F250 has had a trouble free 20k Miles so far. It does the work.

The F150 is the fun truck. Just 1k on it but it’s very nice.

Thanks,

I bought a new F150 5.0 V8 in 2011. in 127,000 miles I replaced tires, brakes, rotors and spark plugs. I traded it for a 2018 in March. Neither truck had a single squeak or rattle. Both are XLT, one notch up from the bottom trim level. If anything happened to the new one I'd have another one by the end of the week.
