If someone doesn’t want to “recognize” my marriage because it didn’t occur in a church and was not performed by some self-appointed interpreter of his particular god’s will, continue to enjoy your prideful sanctimony.
For those who evidently have no understanding of history or knowledge of human culture outside of their own circumscribed existence, countless couples have lived in exclusive partnerships based on expressed promises to remain faithful to each other without any sort of religious sanction. The reasons for such relationships extend back to the earliest evolutionary bases, and are even seen among some of the “lower” animals. Among humans, the only reason such partnerships become uncommon and no longer needed is when the influencers of the society decide that they can do a better job of producing good members than can family units.
My wife and I have each been married only once and our relationship has been totally faithfully for 42+ years without approval or assistance from any supernatural force.

Um, no. First I never said someone’s life is less or more than someone else’s. Not what I said in the least and don’t really appreciate that inference, because it’s dead wrong, and awful, really awful. And churchy? What is that exactly? Is that some slight to people who attend mass or Church services?
I am well aware there are others involved. Family being considered sure, but complete strangers? You lost me there. But make no mistake, a marriage vow, is first and foremost a commitment to God. You are making a promise to God almighty when you do it. That supersedes everything else. Anything and everything else is secondary. My point was not about non-religious people getting married. They can write their own vows and talk about the moon for all I care. I was referring to the bs. Is it in the Bible to purchase a diamond engagement ring? Nope. Up until 100 years ago the diamonds were next to worthless. It was DeBeers and an ad campaign in newspapers all over the country pushing the narrative. So yeah, that’s fake to me, big time. A false ad campaign and marketing narrative doesn’t make it reality. That’s literally a cartel creating a ceremonial tradition out of thin air to make money. And so are these ludicrous ceremonies costing tens of thousands of dollars. If they want to do it, hey it’s a free country, I just think the cost has gone insane. People that don’t even believe in God, yet recite Biblical vows by a preacher or Priest for show? No, I will never understand that.
And look, we don’t have to all agree either. It’s a free country. I never said anything about recognizing this and that, nor putting anyone above or below, nothing of the sort. My post and comments were about the ridiculous industry that this is today. The insane costs, and nothing more. And how that has, I take that back, how that has already superseded the sacrament and sacred union.

FWIW, the wife does some work that is funded by the FED Gov. In the past, it required her to ask a series of questions, "for tracking purposes", to know if all "communities" were being served. She started a new project yesterday and lo and behold the "mandatory" LGBQRSTLMNOP questions are GONE.
