We're taking a vacation next week, driving Houston to Pensacola, staying a week, then driving back.
Route is almost all I10.

Filled up here today, at 4.119 for 87

How are fuel prices looking on the I10 corridor between TX & FL.
Specifically, 89, if you have it.

I don't know about prices as I have not driven that route recently, although there are a couple of Buc-ees along your route and their prices are usually pretty good.

Use caution around the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge as LSP is cracking down on speed there due to a number of fatal wrecks along there.

Enjoy your time in Pensacola and email me if you need anything while in the area.

Safe travels

Gas Buddy has a route selector tool "Trip Cost Calculator" where you put in your origin, destination and car make and model and it takes into account the gas mileage and predicts your stops for you at the most affordable stations.

I really enjoyed our short stop at Pensacola. Really great beach IMO. And, we did stop at a Buc-ee's somewhere before New Orleans. Holy crap what a place. I had no idea.

Be careful on the Achafalaya bridge.

You will get a speeding ticket mailed to you if you cross it in less than 18min. (Cameras on both ends)

Not to mention LSP has been camping out by and on it

100 gallons of gas with a $0.30 difference in price is $30 bucks. Enjoy the trip and gas up where convenient.

Rumor has it later this year they will have a camera speed system on the basin bridge that times your passage then sends a ticket in the mail if it takes < 18min. Can anyone confirm?

I see cameras in the future for the Twin Span and Causeway until some sharp politician/lawyer sues them. Revenue streams although they say it is for safety. Back in the day cars would race on the Causeway in time trials. Then they got cops in the middle and helicopters.

From a couple posts above you, seems like it's already in action.

I just made the trip from Austin to Gulf Shores (and to Pensacola one day) and back a week ago. Gas prices were decent along I-10. I filled up about 5 miles from the Pensacola airport (at a Shell station using my $.25 off/gallon) and gas was roughly $.15 less than anywhere else between Pensacola and Gulf Shores.

The basin camera system is NOT currently in effect. It goes into effect 8/1/2022. There were several unmarked (black) tahoes patrolling it though. Also, Mississippi has unmarked white F-150’s cruising I-10.

ETA - Louisiana was fairly open as far as police activity goes, except for the basin bridge and the normal spot near the I-10/I-12 merge point in Baton Rouge. Waze was pretty good about notifying me of police activity. Only one that caught me off guard was a black Tahoe on the basin bridge that popped the truck in front of me.

Travel safe.
