Are you trying to find logic in government regulations/interpretations?

My take on this subject... #2, AR pistol with law folder and brace, 26" or less, no vertical foregrip, measured (folded), So you measure from the end of the receiver to the barrel threads (thus making it shorter than #1

The video posted by RHINOWSO from "MrGunsngear" does not agree with that.

Specifically, if the "extension" is NEEDED for function (i.e. all ARs except certain ones that are piston like the Sig MCX/MPX), then you measure INCLUDING the extension.

If the extension is NOT needed for function (MCX/MPX, most/all AKs, Sig 553P, etc.), then you measure to the fold (folded position).

So, any AR pistol should be measured including the extension. I "thumb" measured (i.e. approximately) my 11.5" AR pistol (Spikes lower, BCM 11.5" upper, SigBrace) and it came in slightly under 26 inches.

I don't use VFGs anyway, but I won't be putting any on.

My "new to me" Black Aces PS5, on the other hand, doesn't fold, but is extremely short and has as extension and brace. And, of course, the extension is NOT needed for function.

It DOES come with a 90 degree VFG, as well as a letter from the ATF dated 2014. Based on the fact that the OEM VFG on it IS 90 degree (and the new "letter" says orientation does not matter), I'm getting a BCM VFG which has a slight tilt to it so it's not 90 degrees, just to be safe.

(PS No comments on the Black Aces, yes... I know they are notoriously finicky).

Pretty much what you'd expect from an NFA / ATF thread like this - equal parts conspiracy, incredulity, and defiance.

Part of the problem in this is there are too many in our number that are too fucking stupid for their own good.

They keep needling ATF with a "well, what bout this" and then "Well, ok, what about this" and then a "Well, ok then, what about this" instead of keeping their mouths shut and staying under the radar. Without that, ATF Washington, takes no position on anything.

NEWS FLASH (are you ready???????)

If you live in a free area.........wait for it......those EVIL ATF agents at your local field office don't give two fucks and a mule about whether you have a VFG on your AR pistol. They just don't. They have too much actual work to do (you know chasing after real armed career criminals) to worry about you and your VFG equipped AR pistol You go into a convenience store and act a fool with it and draw attention to yourself with the local police, and maybe, MAYBE you may find yourself in a jam.

Hence, see my above post about the pallet of cocaine for the cliff notes version.
