Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with any product to protect your vehicle from hail damage?

I won’t forget in the 1st week of owning my truck 23 years ago a massive storm came through and I was in the middle of an interrogation and couldn’t go check on my truck. It got major hail damage. I still have that truck today and it isn’t my concern of this post.

My concern is we just bought my wife a brand new Nissan Rouge and a couple times in the last two weeks we have been getting hit with severe thunderstorms. I do not have room in my garage to fit her car. Tonight we got super lucky as the storm had 3” size hail but slipped just south of us so all we got was rain.

I am going to start doing research for something, but just curious if anyone knows of anything good. I am also willing to buy something for my work take home state vehicle as state vehicles are not insured and our agency doesn’t have the budget to fix hail damage beyond a broken windshield. I take pride in my take home vehicle and want to keep it nice as well.

I imagine there are things for pea size hail but not apple size hail, but anything is better than nothing.

Garage sale?

Tbh, there is not much which will protect a car from 100 or more chunks of solid ice falling from the sky except a garage or car port and even then, you’ll have roof / shingle damage

You need this Hail Protector to save your car from getting just wrecked by hail or damage from debris thrown around in a storm. It works and if you don’t have a garage or structure to park under it’s the next best thing.

I live in a historic district and many of the old houses don’t have garages. This is keeping me sane while I get a garage built. Looks like a giant silver ballon in your driveway, but I sleep better.

I was just looking at this website. Something like this seems it would do well. $600 for my wife’s vehicle, which would be the Insurance deductible.

Big wind can and does come with thunderstorms. Wonder how the silver balloon would be with that component.

Yeah gonna do more research on that product. I got super lucky tonight and only got rain. I watched my mom’s Ring camera as she is about 20 miles away from me where a bad part of the storm hit her with close to 60 MPH winds but only pea sized hail. Crazy video and water came in through her windows due to the wind. Luckily she has room in her garage to park her car.

It does fine in heavy wind. We had 60+ mph winds in McKinney the other night. The hail protector is pretty secure the way it tightens up around the bottom. Also has a strap that goes under the car that buckles to other side. But the way it tightens up around the bottom is how it keeps secured to the vehicle.

I am telling you, you won’t be disappointed. Just get one and have some peace of mind. It has saved my Grenadier from a few to many hail storms over the past year. It is cheap insurance.

Good to know, thank you. I am figuring that if this is a product that will prevent me from having to pay a deductible, get a vehicle repaired, and be out of the vehicle for a while then this might be worth it. Especially if it works more than once. One time and it will pay for itself.

Local dealers have erected canopies over each car in their lots after years of experiencing hail damage. There are pictures but I'm in bed and it's late so I didn't search for them to add to this post.

I built a massive carport over my driveway to protect vehicles I didn’t even own yet, at the time. That was my solution living in NE TX. That would be the way to go. But my neighborhood is alley fed and the city doesn’t make a stink about carports since they are in the back and we don’t have a POS HOA. If you can’t do that, hail protector.

My garage is full of vehicles already. I’m amazed at many neighbors. They don’t have vehicles in the garage. Their garages are full of bull shit, and they park very expensive vehicles outside, 24/7. SMH. Yup, that is major contributing factor to vehicle insurance in TX. It’s high AF!

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Car wash if there's no parking garages nearby.

One of my neighbors has the hail protector car cover. It looks like a very well designed setup. If I had a vehicle that I cared about, that I was unable to park inside, I would seriously consider buying one.

When parked at home I use a good two layer auto cover over two 2" high density foam pads. One pad on the top & one pad over the hood. The cover will spread the impact force over a larger area. Once I had a new 240Z that was in 2" hail and it looked like a ball peen hammer was used.

I live in McKinney as well. A neighbor down the street had a Hail Protector on his new Suburban and it did not blow off.

There were trees and large branches down all over the area but his protector stayed in place.

Short term rental during storm season, when one is approaching, drive the car over and stick it in the garage.

or, clean out enough space in the garage to pull it in when there are stoms.
