The dog didn't see his shadow so we're in for a early Spring. Unless someone up in Pennsylvania cheated him out of his shadow .. Big Grin. Its been a mild Winter so far. Maybe 4 inches of snow but the temps are only this week, starting to feel like Winter. Here's hoping the rest of Winter isn't too rough.

Happy GroundHog Day!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

It's official, Phil saw his shadow. Yep, the Nor'easter cleared up and the sun was out in Western PA.

I will enjoy some Phil's Shadow later today to salve my disappointment.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

It's still snowing here. Has to be at least a foot and a half. Cleared the driveway yesterday afternoon and there is about another 8" on there again.

Bought new house last year, fiance said "Should we get a snow blower?" I said "Nah". I know as soon as I buy a snow blower it won't snow for about a decade.

Always seemed backwards to me.

If it's nasty, snowy and cloudy -> no shadow -> ****Huzzah, Winter's Over!!!!

If it's clear and sunny -> shadow -> Oh Noes! More Winter Frown

By that logic, you could figure out whether Summer's over by putting out an ice cube in September. If it melts, Summer's over. If it stays put, More Summer! Smile

I always figure if he sees his shadow it is 6 more weeks til spring and if he doesn't it is 6 more weeks of winter. Either way you have to deal with 6 weeks til it warms up.

We have about 4 inches of snow on the ground here. And given the weather report show sub-freezing weather all next week, it is not likely to get better any time soon. Good thing we have a decent wood supply.

Okay David, I'm thinking you should be censured or something. First you said he didn't see his shadow and then you said it's been a mild winter. That's what they call jinxing us.

I say WTF... I blame you David Lee!!! Big Grin

That right there is excessive.. Big Grin. We are just under 4 inches so far this Winter. Last year was 1 inch. Hang in there. Spring is on its way. Good lord.

I never understood this whole process sticking around so long. Is it because of history?

With a worse accuracy than flipping a coin I would have though it would have died long before the farmers almanac.

IMHO, large rodents make excellent ballistic test mediums, but poor weather forecasters.
