Do you lightly lube your magazines?

kramdenDo you lightly lube your magazines?
On my various handguns ( especially the .22's) they seems to function much smoother if I occasionaly clean and lube them. If I start to get some jams I know it's time to do it again.

WoodmanI’ll wipe them down with a silicone cloth after cleaning.

parabellumThe interior? Absolutely not.

NismoOnly wiping it down with a CLP rag every now and then. Inside is always kept dry.

kramdenActually I was talking inside!

RogueJSKDefinitely not. The interior of magazines should be free of oil and solvents. Brush/blow/wipe them out, and then reassemble dry.

jimmy123xI clean my magazines with CLP inside and out. I do wipe the insides out pretty good, but a tiny residue remains and I'm fine with it, even though it's advised not to.

P220 SmudgeNo. I don’t want anything for dust, lint, or fouling to stick to.

AeteoclesNope. Clean and dry.
If you practice with your guns at all, your mags will end up in the dirt. Oil/lube just makes the dirt stick to your mags.

egregoreNo, I don't. The plastic followers - the only points of contact or friction - used in virtually every magazine today don't need lubrication.

bigdealI clean my mags meticulously inside and out, but they don't need any form of lubrication on the inside.

sns3guppyMagazines stay dry.
Any lubricant you put in there will attract dust, excess powder residue, etc, and you'll end up having feeding problems eventually.
You might get away with a dry lube, but I still wouldn't.

enidpd804Do not put anything inside your magazines. Wipe them out occasionally. That's it. They're made to work that way.

I still have a can of that I purchased years ago. I used it for a time on P220 magazines I serviced for my agency, but I could never tell that it made any difference and stopped.
No lube of any sort inside magazines for me now.

TRshootemMy USPSA and Steel Challenge pistols are cleaned before each match. Barrel, slide and frame cleaned and lubed. The inside of the lower is cleaned with Hornady One Shot Gun Cleaner and Lube, the interior of the mags with the same product. A sprayed 2" patch on the end of a 1" round nylon bristle brush cleans the mag inside. I spray a little on the mag spring as well. This is all dry lube, not a single malfunction in 3 pistols in the last 5 years. No oily mess, all carbon is gone. This was the routine shooting cast lead bullets, later with coated.

egregoreIf you really feel the need to lubricate magazines, silicone spray won't hurt.
