Voters need to feel the pain of their consequences.
Ed Koch was voted in as mayor and pulled NYC out of the horror that was the 70's. Seeing how things were getting, the rise of teh race hustlers pushed and got David Dinkins elected. The voters came to their senses, realizing that what Koch was doing was good and all the issues that Dinkins rode-in on was all BS. In comes Giuliani to clean-up Dinkin's mess and reassert the role of govt as to its relationship with its constituents. NYC voters once again will reap what they sow.

39 people/folks shot?
Amateur numbers.

Let NYC reap what it sows. They re-elected AOC, didn't they?

Yep. That town is getting what it elected. I’m sure the NYPD is going to be losing a lot of good people.

My little town supports it's PD.
That said, we haven't done pro-active policework in two weeks. Colorado's new police use of force law, nobody knows what it means.
Until somebody tells us what we can actually do and not do, we're trying to not do anything.
Nobody wants to be the town or cop who makes the case law.

Yup, I think Baltimore was competing with Chi-town back a couple years ago, but I definitely wouldn't want to hang out in any of those two places or New New York either.

He probably saw another commie do it. Maybe it's catching on.

Make no mistake, we have not yet begun to see the effects of the budget cuts. This is likely a result of the elimination of the anti-crime units that aggressively pursued guns and drugs and other street level criminal conduct. I think this is the beginning of a new trend.

Can’t blame you guys a bit for taking that approach. I wonder what the chances are of the public figuring out what is going on and why. Probably not as high as we’d like.

So we don't believe that reducing police will reduce crime? [/sarc of]

Defunding, under funding the Police, and down right harassment of the Police is a strategy of the left.
When the local police can not control the crime the Democrats will be screaming for a civilian national security force, under federal control.
On July 2, 2008 Barack Obama said:
“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Yeah, he definitely sucks. But in Chicago this past weekend Mayor Lightfoot (Another liberal failure) can tout 69 shootings with 13 dead. Incredible how crappy these liberal run cities are. And the old saying "you get what you vote for" is so true. Sorry I was wrong. The updated numbers are in , 74 shot in Chicago.

Well, within a certain extent. I suspect a complete elimination of police, would collapse crime, once society realizes there are no penalties for killing the local scumbags/rioters, etc... (And, eventually, that leads to blood feuds, and balkanization, but for a brief period, all crimes would carry the death penalty.)

Extremely unlikely.
(I was going to write an explanation for my opinion, but realized that it would just be a multiparagraph wall of text that would be as likely to be read as the public’s rising up in opposition to the countless other stupid actions of their elected leaders and voting the bastards out.)
