They used to crack me up; I'd watch them as often as possible when I was a kid! I recently tried watching them for nostalgia's sake and just couldn't. It was just too stupid to get through even a few minutes of them, so it's not just you.

I have always liked the Three Stooges. One of the only things that i miss about Facebook is a group on there called “Shemp Instead”. People Photoshop Shemp into unlikely situations and it’s completely hilarious.

All shorts were originally black & white.

^^One of my favorites with Shemp. That scene may have been used in two of the short films.

One of my favorite lines - Moe to Curly (I think) "Mix me some spotted paint."

The second line was one my son used when he was 9. He had a plantar's wart on his foot. We went to a top dermatologist to have it removed. He did it with out any anesthetic. My son yelled out, loud enough for everyone in the office to hear, "You're not a doctor, you're a butcher."

I later found out he got the line from a Three Stooges episode he had watched.

Loved them as a kid, my sister did too, and my mom hated us watching them, which probably made us like them even more. Also loved Our Gang and The Little Rascals, which probably hold up better today.

Those first Stooges short movies on Columbia aired in 1934 - 90 years ago. Their first appearance on film was in "Soup to Nuts" in 1930 - 94 years ago. Our Gang shorts go back to the late 1920's.

Yet they are commonly known and watched today. Pretty impressive. Sure, what is funny when we are kids is less funny as adults. But that's like watching Star Wars and worrying about the plot holes - remember how it was when you were a kid.

comedy, like music, varies by individual ,

some like this, some don't,
some like that, other don't,

I watched 3 Stooges when I was a kid, and they were good, (like Litte Rascals much better)

love some Monty Python, Mr Bean, not so much,

Not really. Except for Seinfeld and maybe a couple of others, I find modern comedy very lame.

Comedy is subjective. The Stooges antics are a simple, primitive type of humor that appeals because it's so basic... almost cartoonish. I've known plenty of people who find it boorish and dumb. I personally find a slap upside the head or pie to the face to be hilarious... as long as no one is getting hurt.

Maybe you need a laugh track that tells you when to laugh. Big Grin The Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Little Rascals, etc. didn't need them.

I used to like them as a kid. I watched them somewhat recently after not seeing them for decades. I was wondering if I would think they were lame now. I found myself not really laughing out loud, but admiring the crackerjack timing and choreography. The setups and coordination involved were impressive. That took a lot of talent to perform.
