I thinking about attaching a Vline Brute to the d-loop connected to the floor of the car. Cut a slot into the base of the Brute, insert the d-loop and secure using a rod or lock (maybe an old lockable hitch pin). I probably don't have the right tool for this. What tool would you recommend for cutting such a slot into the Brute? "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Dremel. You talking about an eye bolt? The problem with the V-Line stuff (and similar) is that it is relatively thin material. Cutting a large hole (relative) will make it weaker and more susceptible to being ripped out. A hole closer to the edge being better than one in the middle. Two being better than one. Etc.

Thanks. Dremel. Yup, need to buy one Any recommendations on which model and what bit? I can try to keep the slot near the edge. Or how about along one of the bottom edges (basically cut a slot that spans a side and bottom panel)? Eh, that exposes the d-loop (eye bolt?). Okay, so keep the slot on the bottom but near the edge w/out exposing the d-loop. Maybe I can augment with one of the mounting plates that vline has. I carry a 4000 on the truck. I don't have so much experience with them that I know the differences, but this one came with a few attachments, several bits, and had adjustable speed. The regular Dremel reinforced cut off wheels work well for me, but they are thin and you can't flex them while cutting. Don't forget eye protection. I would probably use a padlock hasp over an eye bolt. That will allow you to make the hole smaller while still allowing you to slip a padlock or pin through it from the inside. If you're going to make a slot, drill your ends with a bit that's the same diameter as the width of your slot, spaced apart as wide as the bolt/hasp that passes through will be. Then cut between them.
