Remember that 0-0 is in Argentina.

0-0, no comment on KFC in Argentina but the KFC’s in Spain were spectacular. The chicken was fresh, crispy and flavorful... I hope that’s the case for you as well in BA (or wherever you go).

A few years ago we went to a KFC just a little north of Tokyo. All I can say is their menu was VERY different than what we see in the U.S.!

When were you at KFC in Spain? Wife and I were in Barcelona from May 1977 through October 1978, I never saw a KFC. The only American type fast food I was aware of was Orange Julius.

Side note, the rotisserie chicken that we got at take-out deli type places was really great. Something about the chicken in Spain, yummy!

Every once in a while my wife would invite some of the Spanish engineers on our project, over to our condo for an American style dinner: roast chicken with stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, apple pie. Not typical Spanish food. The Spanish guys loved it! They kept saying that she should open an American style restaurant.

30 years ago my wife and I really liked KFC chicken and would get it fairly often. No more. They've really gone down hill. The same could be said for Pizza Hut pizza. I won't step in either one today. Too many options that are better.

Yuck brands (Pepsi Co spin-off and many renames/rebrands later) ruined KFC much like they did to Pizza Hut.

Do they sell more chicken? Yes.

Are they in more countries? Yes.

Is the chicken as good as it was before 1986? Hell no.

Fortunately, I'd have to be stupid enough to drive past Popeye's, Chick-fil-a, Raisin' Caines, and Church's before I'd arrive at a KFC. I've lived here since 4th of July '16 and so far it's been plenty of time to come to my senses and stave off the disappointment that is KFC.

Nope, maybe grilled is. We're a beef culture, but if you ask me ANY burger chain paty tastes like something the cow left behind while pasturing... wonder how they get such perfect shitty taste every time. Closer to room temperature cardboard like.

None of the franchise but Wendy, also a recent appearance with KFC, has stews. Their chili is bearable for lack of better alternatives. But I have it maybe twice a year, I know how they make it from what hits the floor, for instance. A friend working in the Brussels store told me 30 years ago. They didn't last long in that market.

As a side note, I learned late in life about your fried turkey, maybe 15 years ago I tried twice and never returned to the US. I could kill for some more. How could you people keep that a secret from me for so long, you cruel bastards! Wink

Yeah, KFC isn't what it was.
I ate a heck of a lot of it growing up... as my Dad oversaw operations for most of the East coast. Quality control was indeed checked by corporate regularly, which included him stopping at a random store at least once a week and picking up a bucket and sides to bring home. Oh, the cole slaw has never been great.

Frank Perdue tried to get him to switch to his chicken, but the costs would have meant a significant price increase.

When Pepsi took over they broke all the systems that worked and let everyone who knew the systems go. Pepsi products were banned at our house for years afterwards.

Get a 3 piece original white meal. I think it is a K10. That’s what I get. Also, Pollo Loco is not fried chicken, but is amazing if you have one near you. They have them on the West coast a lot.

Hi V-Tail! I went over to Barcelona in 2012 for an MBA, which is where I experienced that KFC chicken. I’ve since been back in 2016 to the Basque region and had unbelievably amazing food, but still snuck out to a KFC in Bilbao and it was excellent.

No idea of the KFC Argentina menu, but KFC in Japan was pretty darn good. I always stuck to the original chicken menu but there were a lot of options at KFC there. I think KFC Japan is a separate company or joint venture with a lot of local control. It may be the same in Argentina. Here in the Mobile, Alabama area, we've tried two different KFCs and were not impressed at all. We don't eat fried chicken out that often but when we do, it's Popeye's now.

It's a Southern thing and it produces wonderful, juicy turkey quickly.

There are Sigforum posts on it every year right before Thanksgiving. Don't recall ever seeing it at a restaurant, and I think O-O was just reminiscing about having it in the US.

The oil is quite expensive so it's best to do a bunch of turkeys (i.e. Thanksgiving, cookout, collaboration with neighbors, etc) and it's super dangerous (e.g. burns, one unthawed spot will result in boil over and a huge peanut oil fire, etc).

They have lots of El Pollo Locos in San Diego. Those are mostly very good.

I just spotted one not far from San Antonio airport last week, and as soon as I get passed the Corned Beef leftovers, I may head over there for a reunion.

I visited Japan a couple of times 30 years ago and any franchise was delicious. Hardees was top notch I remember. Then tried same thing in the old USA and other countries around the world andwhat a dissapointment. I concluded the Japanese are the Masters of Fastfood, palms down, no contest.

Will give the original recipee a shot. They promote having the same ingredients that made the product so popular. We'll see.

Nicky, I quite agree. Visits in the late '70s - early '80s found their "fast food" excellent. I still recall a lobster "pizza" that was flat out amazing.

They changed something in the cooking method or recipe years back and went from reliable to hell. When the local franchises closed a few years ago I didn't shed a tear. I was partial to extra crispy leg and thigh.
