Congrats to tOSU! The game was way more lopsided than the score

Back to back Big Ten national champions makes me smile

From deep South here, but Ohio State has always been my favorite college football team. Don't know why, but maybe because I learned about the famous Archie Griffin of Ohio State as a youngster in Viet Nam.

Notre Dame is always hated, because Joe Montana led a miraculous comeback and beat my alma mater UofH Cougars in the 1979 Cotton Bowl. Little did we know at the time that we played against a man who would become one of the greatest NFL QBs of all time. And a favorite of mine.

Whelp...both of my teams lost their respective national championships. 2025 can only get better from here.

Glad to Trump back in office.
But not so happy about the Buckeyes winning.

The only two teams to beat my Hoosiers in 2024 were playing for the title last night. (Which is so strange to say after so many losses in the past.)

But I am pleased that the Buckeyes represented the Big Ten well. Now, if they can only beat the Wolverines their comeback will be complete. Wink

If the Buckeyes can manage to win one of these every 10 years, the good Lord willing, I may get to experience one or two more! Won't remember them, but nice to see the BIG10 quell the SEC banter for a couple years! Way to go Buckeyes!

Well, even as a Notre Dame fan... hats off to you.
Congratulations!

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

My wife has a lot of relatives out in Ohio and I love how they are so big on it being THE Ohio State, not just “Ohio State”.

Looks like Ryan Day may be safe from Ohio State’s fans for one more year. Maybe.

This new 12-team playoff format isn't perfect, but it's orders of magnitude better than the old 4-team playoff system. Ohio State would not have been playing for a national championship last year as they were the #8 seed. This year, there were 2 more rounds of teams sorting it out on the gridiron instead of in a good 'ole boys conference room.

I always thought the emphasis on THE was quite stupid.

I don't know what happy valley is, but I doubt they call it, THE happy valley. Roll Eyes

Yeah, what is it with "THE Ohio State University" anyway? I always wondered about that. Is there some other school that tries to pass itself off as OSU? Kinda like Miami calling themselves "The U". If they can only remember one letter then why isn't it "The M"?

There is Ohio University (most states have a X state and a Univ of X, but Ohio is different) that plays in the MAC Conference.

As far as OSU's, there is:
  • Oklahoma State University. Div 1 school in what is left of Big 12.
  • Oregon State University. Div 1 school in what is left of Pac 12.

The “the” is a part of the official school name.

To my knowledge no other school does this. Michigan university, auburn university, etc.

The fact that Ohio state takes it as a badge of honor rather than the ridiculousness that it is doesn’t surprise me for Ohio state fans…

As an Auburn fan I’d rather see Alabama win everything than OSU.
