One could argue it's the same as saying Prime Rib (which doesn't have to be prime grade but is called prime because it comes from the primal area).

In any case the actual meat in store that is the price they advertised as Prime Angus is not labeled prime at all. My review simply points out that you aren't getting prime grade beef and to read the labels carefully.
I'm 95% sure I read something on USDA website earlier today saying that prime rib was OK due to being descriptive of cut but adding prime to other descriptors was a violation. Prime Angus would be a violation especially in light of not being graded by USDA or another certifier as prime.

this,

long ago the USDA enacted a thing called COOL, as in Country Of Origin Labeling,

all goods need to have the country of origin in the label,
meat, produce etc,

if they did not , report them

Prime Rib, like London Broil, is a descriptor for a cut of beef,

vs Select, Choice, or Prime,

one beef processor had Silver , don't think they still use that, for beef that was graded Chioce, but looked like prime,, kinda,

I Think it was Monfort,

Current “COOL” law does not require labeling for beef or pork, as shocking as that might sound. It requires COO labels for every else: fish, shellfish, chicken, lamb, goat and all kinds of fruits and nuts, but no beef/pork. Roll Eyes

I’ve had several clients who have been threatened because of their reviews. Not one of them has ever actually been sued. Truth is an absolute defense for defamation. I’ll be damned if I would be bullied by them.

Also, it’s either the carcass or half carcass, I don’t remember which, that gets graded, not the individual cuts, so you still need to look at what they are handing you.

I go in and they say it's cut to order, I order 6 filets at 8 ounces. Then I start shopping and realize the beef isn't USDA graded. The ribeyes have no marbling and are from Nicaragua. They do have tri-tip labeled USDA choice.

I get a tri tip and my filets and head home. I notice 3 of the filets have a much darker color. Open them up and the dark ones are rancid, the lighter pink ones seem fine. I throw it all away. It's an hour round trip that I don't want to waste again.

It sounds like you had an indication that they might not have been what was advertised and what you were hoping for while still in the store.

I'm not saying you should pull your review. If it's true and factual you have nothing to worry about.

However, a few moments spent in-store inspecting what's cut before they are wrapped might save you some time and trouble next time. Buyer beware.

Not that you'll ever go back there again...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

At USDA certified meat packing plants the butcher makes a cut into the ribeye between the 12th and 13th rib, and according to the marbling, the whole carcass is graded as rolloff, select, choice or prime.

Good luck OP, I think they are bluffing.

Regarding the grading issue and what I bought, I knew before I left the store it was not USDA graded. I was not too worried about it as the price was good and filet mignon is rarely a problem even if it's USDA Select because it is so tender. My review as simply to point out to people that may not realize the ads are misleading and to be sure they understand what they are buying. Of course, the fact my filets were spoiled was the straw that ensured I wrote a full review of the place.

In your review, if you still can, definitely include the information that the shop is threatening to sue you. People will realize what that business is about, and the shop cannot sue you for announcing their threats.

I wouldn't take any of it seriously until I got something from a licensed attorney. Until then, they can fuck right the hell off. A truthful review would stand. They probably got AI to right that "legal" notice.

I have no access to the review because they removed all reviews. I think they have an option on Facebook page to have reviews on or off, but not change anything if they are on. They can't delete specific reviews. It's all or nothing.

So basically, if I wanted to make any changes or remove it I would need to contact them, have them turn reviews on and then make the change.

I've decided to not contact them again. I will ignore any letters they send or any email threats, unless, of course, they actually try to sue me. I just can't imagine them going through that expense when they clearly have no real argument.

I once got a letter from some music place saying I downloaded some music. In it they demanded money for the music. I went to the city(they were my internet provider) and they had given out my info .
I don’t know about internet connections but I assume they managed to track it down that way.

I asked the IA captain at my police department about it because he’s a computer nerd, and he said that it was illegal to pirate music and I should pay it.

I never downloaded it. So I damn sure wasn’t gonna pay it. The only thing I can think of is that my wi-fi was not secure. (And my biggest kid was maybe the culprit. But I never directly asked him)

I didn’t respond to the letter.
I got another one.
I ignored it.

Nothing ever happened.

Did you post a review on Google/other platforms? Thinking some consumers would not be looking at these other sources and like to know about these businesses practices.

I'd also want to know you've been bullied for your FaceBook post. I might mention that in the Google review.
